DFCCIL signed two contracts worth Rs. 2390 crores for design and construction of signalling and telecommunication works on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. The first contract of Rs. 1780 crores was for 915 route km between Rewari and Vadodara, and the second contract of Rs. 610 crores was for 1370 route km between Rewari and JNPT, Mumbai. The contracts involve the latest signalling and telecom technologies and represent the biggest such project on Indian Railways. DFCCIL is constructing the Eastern and Western dedicated freight corridors to enhance freight transport capacity in India.

DFCCIL signs biggest Signalling & Telecom Contracts on Indian Railways
worth Rs. 2390 crores for Western Dedicated Freight Corridor
Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. (DFCCIL) achieved yet
another milestone by signing two Contract Agreements worth Rs. 2390 crores
for Design & Construction of Signalling & Telecom works and Train Protection
and Warning System (TPWS) Works on Western Dedicated Freight Corridor.
The first contract worth Rs. 1780 crores for 915 route kilometers long Double
Line between Rewari to Vadodara on Design – Build Lump Sum price basis
signed with S.A.F.E. Consortium having M/s Hitachi Limited as the Lead
Partner & M/s Mitsui, M/s Texmaco and M/s Hitachi India Ltd. as other
partners.
Another contract worth Rs. 610 crores for 1370 route km between Rewari and
JNPT (Mumbai) for design and construction of Train Protection and Warning
System (TPWS) Works for Double Line on Design-Build Lump Sum price basis
has also been signed with I-N Signal Consortium having M/s Hitachi Limited
as the Lead Partner & M/s Mitsui, and M/s Hitachi India Ltd. as other
partners.
The Contract has been signed by Sh. D. S. Rana, Director/Infra, DFCCIL and
Mr. Mino, Deputy GM, Hitachi Ltd. Japan in the presence of Sh. Adesh
Sharma, Managing Director/DFCCIL on 10.12.2015.
The work shall involve the use of all the latest Signalling & Telecom
Technologies like Electronic Interlocking, Multi Section Digital Axle Counters
(MSDAC), Train Management and Diagnostic System, OFC based
Communication and GSM-R etc. Both Scope and Cost wise this is the biggest
Signalling & Telecom work on Indian Railway and one of the biggest in World
Railway. The work is funded by JICA.
DFCCIL, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) is engaged in planning, construction,
operation and maintenance of the dedicated freight corridors and in the first
phase, the two corridors namely, Eastern Corridor from Ludhiana to Dankuni
2. (1840 kms) and Western Corridor from Dadri to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT)
(1502 kms) are being constructed. The entire Western Corridor is being funded
by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), while the Eastern Corridor
from Mughalsarai to Ludhiana is being funded by the World Bank.
