Information
Make sure your contact info is
current & up-to-date
Be sure to use a
professional
email address that you check regularly
Objective
Your Objective is your chance to “sell”
yourself and present some of your
background and soft skills
When applying to a specific job, use this
section to highlight the skills
relevant to the position
Experience(the most important part)
Make sure you call it experience and not employment
That way you can list both paid and unpaid work
Put the Company Name, your Position and the Dates all in
Bold or Italics
And list your experience in reverse chronological order,
with all past experience in past tense, and your
current position in present tense
Under each job title, list each of your most important
job functions
in order of significance and relevancy to the job you are seeking
Use numbers and values when discussing your
accomplishments
Keep it specific!
Use numbers and values when discussing your
accomplishments
“Responsible for
1.8 million dollars
in revenue…”

Education
You want to eliminate any
!
the hiring manager may have
guesswork
So include all dates and
relevant coursework to help tell
your story
If you’re currently in school, or graduated recently
you can place education
before your experience
and list your expected
graduation date and degree
Otherwise, list your education last
and list the year you received your degree
If you didn’t graduate, don’t worry!
Clearly notate all credits earned towards
the degree or program in which you were
enrolled
Tailor your resume to match the job
for which you are applying to help you
stand out from the crowd
Proofread!
Ensure that your
formatting is consistent and
double check your
spelling and grammar
