The monkeys saw people cooking food over a fire and decided to copy them by collecting red berries to cook. However, despite waiting by the fire, the monkeys were unable to start a fire or cook the berries like the people did. The story concludes that copying others without understanding makes one as foolish as monkeys, and it is better to be original and true to oneself.

- 12. And they kept waiting But nothing happened, however hard they tried!
