This document outlines a 6 step model for creative bible teaching: study, focus, structure, teach, evaluate. The model provides a process for teachers to effectively teach the bible in an engaging way through preparation, organization, delivery and assessment of their lessons.
Studying the word is the foundation of the teaching learning process. Understanding and interpreting Scripture is the teacher¡¯s responsibility in order that they can effectively communicate the Authority of God.
Focusing the message requires that the teacher understand the needs of the students and then pinpoints how to narrow the message to those needs.
Our book illustrates the hook, book, look, and took structure for teaching. Having a structure is important so students don¡¯t get lost in the points resulting in the message being lost.
Teaching is more than a presentation or a well laid out lesson. The image represents traditional classroom setting which in many cases is appropriate; however, teaching requires credibility and goes well beyond the classroom walls.
Doctors assesses, makes a diagnosis, and then create a medical plan for their patients. This is what we pay doctors to do, but what happens when we don¡¯t get better? We keep feeling sick? It is after all of these things take place the doctor must evaluate again and clear a patient¡¯s health. Without this evaluation how could the doctor ever know if his plan ever worked? As teachers we have the same responsibility to evalutate to ensure that we are truly doing a good job teaching.
