Text: Gen 19:17-20, 30
17) And it came to pass, when they had brought
them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy
life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in
all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest
thou be consumed.
18) And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my
Lord:
19) Behold now, thy servant hath found grace
in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy,
which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my
life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest
some evil take me, and I die:
20) Behold now, this city is near to flee unto,
and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither,
(is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
Gen 19:30
30) And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in
the mountain, and his two daughters with him;
for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in
a cave, he and his two daughters.
Prov 14:14
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his
own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied
from himself.

Escape for thy life
He died on January 28, 814.
Many years later, archaeologists discovered
the tomb of Charlemagne, the great king and
emperor of France.
When the tomb was opened, after being
closed for centuries, the men who entered it
found something amazing.
They found treasures of the kingdom;
But in the center of the large vault was a
marble throne, and seated on the throne
was the skeleton of Charlemagne, with an
open Bible on his lap,
and a bony finger pointing at Mrk 8:36,
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall
gain the whole world and lose his own
soul?"
Heb 2:3
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great
salvation; which at the first began to be
spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto
us by them that heard him;
Escape to
2Pet 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great
and precious promises: that by these ye
might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in
the world through lust.

Gen 19:20
20) Behold now, this city is near to flee unto,
and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither,
(is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
Poison dart frog
The potent toxin secreted from their skin has
been used by indigenous peoples in Central and
South America to poison the tips of blowdarts.
The deadliest species, the golden poison frog,
carries enough toxin on average to kill 10 to 20
men.
That's impressive for a creature that only grows
to about 1.5 inches in size.
my soul shall live
Gen 12:13
Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it
may be well with me for thy sake; and my
soul shall live because of thee.
1Tim 5:6
But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while
she liveth.
Lam 4:5-6
5 They that did feed delicately are desolate
in the streets: they that were brought up in
scarlet embrace dunghills.
6 For the punishment of the iniquity of the
daughter of my people is greater than the
punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was
overthrown as in a moment, and no hands
stayed on her.
Rev 3:1
And unto the angel of the church in Sardis
write; These things saith he that hath the
seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I
know thy works, that thou hast a name
that thou livest, and art dead.
Prov 14:12-14
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto
a man, but the end thereof are the ways of
death.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful;
and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled
with his own ways: and a good man shall be
satisfied from himself.
A reformation of actions without repentance of
heart creates a rebellion of spirit that demands
Gods hand of punishment.
Gen 19:18
18) And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my
Lord:
Gen 19:19
19) Behold now, thy servant hath found grace
in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy,
which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my
life;
and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest
some evil take me, and I die:
Gen 19:29
And it came to pass, when God destroyed the
cities of the plain, that God remembered
Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the
overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the
which Lot dwelt.
Isa 55:3
Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear,
and your soul shall live; and I will make an
everlasting covenant with you, even the sure
mercies of David.
Rom 6:22
But now being made free from sin, and
become servants to God, ye have your fruit
unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
1John 1:5-6
5 This then is the message which we have
heard of him, and declare unto you, that
God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with
him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do
not the truth:
Hos 7:16
16) They return, but not to the most High: they
are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall
by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this
shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
2Kgs 17:33
They feared the LORD, and served their
own gods, after the manner of the nations
whom they carried away from thence.
Jer 2:36
Why gaddest thou about so much to change
thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of
Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.
Jer 2:37
Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine
hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath
rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not
prosper in them.
Jas 1:8
A double minded man is unstable in all his
ways.
III. Endanger- 19:30

30) And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in
the mountain, and his two daughters with him;
for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in
a cave, he and his two daughters.
Prov 5:22
22) His own iniquities shall take the wicked
himself, and he shall be holden with the
cords of his sins.
Ps 23:3-4
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for
thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they
comfort me.
Rev 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be
zealous therefore, and repent.
