This file has been made up to provide a brief and clear understanding of the difference between UL listed, UL classified, UL recognized, CSA, and CE.
Complying with the standards is very important. It is a mandatory task for the major projects here in Saudi Arabia.
I met many pump suppliers in Saudi Arabia who tried hard to misguide the consultants.
Case study: -
I got a call from a consultant engineer handling a construction building project. He asked me for help. The Supplier x provides certificates that the pump does comply with UL778, and the controller complies with UL508a. I asked the consultant engineer if I could visit the site, he accepted.
I went to the site to see the pumps, all the pumps have the UL classified mark. I opened the control panel door there was no mark inside the controller. I reviewed the supplier compliance statement, they complied with the requirements of UL778 and UL508a. Immediately, I advised the consultant engineer to provide them with Code-D because the supplier x missed the major clauses in the project specifications.
