The four lane highway under construction in Kanyakumari is causing huge ecological damages. Several lakh trees have been cut without any permissions. Several aquifers have been sealed. The costs continue to get escalated for no understandable reason. As of 2021, it might take more than 5 years to complete the construction of the highway at the pace that it is being constructed at present.

- 2. These photos were taken on 29th September 2018. Mr. M. G. Devasahayam, Mr. Thomas Franco and Mr. Subramaniam covered the stretch from Pothaiady to Palliyadi. Not even 10% of the four way lane is ready. Massive destruction of nature, hills, Rocks and digging of fertile red soil is taking place. Ponds are to be filled. ACQUIFIERS are destroyed. Its high time to stop the destruction.
