Whether we define success as financial or personal happiness, research has shown that empathy correlates best with success in later life.
We must focus on this in schools.
Fundraising, by itself, does not build empathy. Students need relationships with others who are different than they are.
Each of you is a Mr. Tada to someone.
Our job as teachers is to give them the keys to those locks. If we do that, not only will our students be better equipped for their future, but we, as teachers, will be helping to save humanity.
