This document discusses several technology trends for organizational use including BYOD, disappearing computers like Google Glass, a connected planet through telecommuting and eLearning, information mining to improve production and services, security issues and solutions, collaborative input models like Threadless, modularized systems to increase revenue, data assemblies for transparency, and emerging technology trends driven by mobility, connectivity, data collection, and exponential growth. It cites references on trends in technology for business and potential applications of technologies like Google Glass and augmented reality headsets in firefighting.
Clean technology and sustainability trends dec 2013Frederic De Meyer
油
The document summarizes three observations about trends in clean technology adoption:
1. Many emerging trends like crowdsourcing, 3D printing, and urban farming will indirectly promote sustainability by reducing transportation and resource needs. While individual impacts are small, collectively they will significantly impact global sustainability.
2. Companies are increasingly making sustainability a core part of their strategies, both out of their own initiative because it makes business sense, and in response to social pressures. This shows sustainability practices becoming a business necessity.
3. Sustainable innovation will likely come more from developing countries in Africa and Asia, as well as grassroots efforts everywhere, as people worldwide seek solutions to climate change impacts. Many small-scale examples already exist,
Nieuwe User Interfaces. Monkeytalk 2016 Living Room Edition.Monkeyshot
油
The document discusses new user interfaces and how technology is becoming more integrated into everyday life. It notes perspectives from Confucius, Einstein, and Gates on technology's role. The document suggests that as designers, we can create interfaces that are invisible, use augmented reality, and are self-learning to better fit people on the move without distracting from human interaction or quality time. It concludes by thanking the audience for listening.
Sex, Drugs and The Infinite Scroll: The biology behind engaging design. fresh tilled soil
油
Biology can teach us important lessons about designing products for the future. Products should foster an environment where users can adapt through constant feedback and near wins. They should enhance human capabilities by extending our senses rather than focusing solely on technology. While experiences may solve similar problems, their designs should be specialized to different contexts. Most importantly, products should make users feel emotions like safety, recognition and belonging in order to drive behavior change.
The document discusses the opportunities for makers in the emerging era of the Internet of Things (IoT). It argues that every connected object should be social, sentient, and know its own story and history. Makers are encouraged to think big and apply Internet principles to create startups in all fields. Harnessing the IoT could provide a big opportunity for Italy comparable to early eras of the web, but it will require risks, failures and national mobilization to develop leading IoT technologies.
Unit 05 trends in technology for organizational useTony Bollino
油
This document discusses several technology trends relevant to organizational use, including BYOD, disappearing computers, connected devices, information mining, security issues, collaborative input, modularized systems, and how technology is changing business operations. Key trends are the integration of computers into all aspects of life through mobile and wearable devices, leveraging connectivity and information to collaborate remotely, and adapting systems and products through user input and modularization. Security and privacy remain ongoing challenges as networks and devices become more integrated and accessible.
MINDFUL TECHNOLOGY // Weve all been witness to both the delight and the disappointment that can happen when we let technology into the most personal parts of our lives. It can sometimes even seem that we serve the machines more than they serve us. (Are you listening, Alexa?!) Theres no doubt that ever-present technology has improved our lives, given us superpowers, and made us more efficient. But at what cost?
With our addictive apps, sticky widgets, and blindly engaging interactions, weve created an era of distraction. Novelty and disruption trump human connectionand these days, even factual truth. We can do better.
As the bits and bytes settle into the most intimate spaces of our lives, our homes, and even our bodies, designers have new responsibilities and obligations. Author and strategist Liza Kindreds 20-year career in fashion and technology has explored both the challenges and benefits of (literally) weaving tech into our lives. Here she offers a host of practical examples that illustrate an eye-opening framework of design principles to guide us in how we make and use new technology. Learn how to create real insight, joy, and utility while still getting the job done.
Instead of designing for page views, its time to design for purpose, for calm, and for compassion. Instead of designing for engagement with interfaces, lets design for actual engagement with the people and places we love. Instead of simply building better tech, in other words, lets build for better human connection.

Biology can teach us 5 things about designing for an ambiguous future. (1) Innovation occurs when environmental pressures are significant, so prototypes should be tested with real people in real contexts. (2) Mobile is our default state, so design for how people naturally engage rather than new technologies. (3) The best products extend our biological abilities. (4) Experiences and products become specialized over time. (5) Designing products that make people feel good, safe, and human drives engagement.

We tend to see megatrends as moving exponentially in the future, forgetting that counter-movements can become quite predominant as well at some point. This presentation gives a preview into what would happen if either the trends or their 'antitrend' would prevail. Obviously, the real future will be somewhere inbetween, this is just a thought experiment... enjoy!
The document discusses the mobile future and key trends including:
1) Innovations will come faster and disruptions will cut deeper as mobile drives the global innovation economy.

This document provides an introduction to human-computer interaction (CHI). It discusses some key principles of CHI, including that systems should be designed from the user's perspective, with a focus on usability. Examples of usability guidelines provided include that the system should be effective, efficient and satisfying for users to achieve their goals. The document also lists some important references in the field of CHI, such as formative conferences and publications.
This document outlines 10 principles for design in the age of artificial intelligence. It discusses how design should solve important human problems, be context specific rather than relying on historical cliches, and enhance human abilities without replacing humans. Other principles discussed include designing for everyday use by everyone, discreet design that doesn't distract from meaningful experiences, designing platforms that grow over time, building long-term relationships without emotional dependency, leveraging machine learning to predict behavior, accelerating innovation, and removing complexity from life. The overall message is that good design with AI should focus on solving problems and augmenting humans rather than replacing them.
This document discusses design thinking and social design thinking. It provides definitions of design thinking as a methodology focused on user needs and experiences. Social design thinking is defined as using the design process to bring about social change. The document discusses IDEO's SF72 project which designed an open-source emergency preparedness tool for San Francisco to encourage community support. It emphasizes that social design thinking considers the designer's role in society and creating positive social impact.
Inside Out: Implementing Revit for Interior Design TeamsCeilidh Higgins
油
What is preventing interior designers from taking up Revit? We can't just keep blaming a lack of content. Maybe we don't need BIM but why should we use Revit for interior design? And why are interior designers so special anyway? The most important question this class will answer is how can we help them transition to, or improve their use of Revit?
This slidedeck is from a class presented at BILT ANZ 2018.
Interior design teams have different needs to architects, your architecture template and library might need some work and the Revit essentials 2 or 3 day training courses don't meet our needs. This class will discuss what the needs of interior design teams might be (and how to better understand your interiors team), both from a technical and a change management perspective. How to turn your Revit Inside Out (or should that be Outside In?)!
The class draws on 20 years of experience as a lead interior designer managing projects from very small to very large, including commercial / workplace, education, multi residential and hospitality - for over 10 years working exclusively in Revit and working with 5 different practices to implement or improve their Revit from the Inside Out.
If I am an architect, a designer, an engineer or even BIM manager - Will a Robot take my job? This is the big question presented in my talk at RTC Australia 2015 as part of the session BIMx: Big Ideas around Big Data. If a Robot won't take my job - what about Big Data?
Groups can be one of the most misunderstood and misued features in Revit. When to use a group, a family or even parts and assemblies? Groupies know that while there is always more than one way to skin a cat, groups can offer a great solution to projects containg "typical" groups of elements (that's why they are called groups!) or to control parts of projects. Even Revit's developers seem to have caught onto this with the functionality of groups having improved in recent releases.
This class will look at best practice workflows for using groups.
* When to use a group versus a family
* Nested groups
* Naming and organising your groups
* What to do about "fix groups" and other group busting errors
* Tagging and scheduling groups
* Creating different group instances (yes it is possible!)
Based on the problems of working with Revit rooms and Room Data Sheets, this presentation will cover many aspects of typical workflows seen in architecture and interiors, discuss where the difficulties are and investigate better, more integrated solutions.
BIM-onomics: how will BIM change the business of design? We all know that BIM takes design to the next level, but how does it change your business? We will look at how by embracing BIM not just as a design tool, but as a completely new way of working will change the way we operate as a business. In this presentation, we will look at potential business challenges, analyse project data, and suggest strategies to prepare your organisation for changes to your underlying business model in the face of a new BIM-driven industry. This presentation will use business examples and discuss the challenges from the perspective of different practices and project scales.
Can we use BIM to help us design? Information is not only a construction or post construction benefit. The use of information at the early design stages and throughout design can help us to design by checking and testing our design assumptions and options

Approaches_to_teaching_Grammar.ppt
**Approaches to Teaching Grammar**
This presentation explores various methods and strategies for teaching grammar effectively in language learning. It covers traditional and modern approaches, including:
- **Deductive vs. Inductive Methods** Teaching rules explicitly versus allowing learners to discover them.
- **Grammar-Translation Method** A classical approach focusing on written language and direct rule application.
- **Communicative Approach** Teaching grammar through real-life communication and interaction.
- **Task-Based Learning** Integrating grammar into meaningful tasks rather than isolated drills.
- **Implicit vs. Explicit Instruction** The role of subconscious learning versus direct grammar explanations.
By comparing these methods, the presentation provides insights into choosing the most effective approach based on learners' needs and contexts.
