THE LUCIFER EFFECT
The impact of light and darkness in human nature.
My understanding of the picture depicted during Saturdays TAG sessionis simply that human
nature or human beings, can be engulfed by either light or darkness. The power thereof is
infinite and all encompassing.
Pastor Desmond explained that the Lucifer Effect was based on a study re-enacting prisoners
and warders from world wars. Subsequently, the impact it had on them personally as
individual human beings in the broader scheme of things.
The mental impact of taking on subservient role and punitive role. I gathered that despite the
fact that the actors were role-playing, the subsequent actions fed their souls adversely. The
study was discontinued after afew days as aresult of the negativeimpact it had on the actors.
I was not entirely certain of what to encapsulate in this assignment, so I have decided to bring
the concept back to home with respect to drug abuse and the consequential results. What I
see as I reflect and who I have come to be, being clean. I will reference back to the study for
clarity where necessary.
In essence, simply speaking, bad actions enable more bad actions and good actions enable
more good actions.
The more you sin, the easier it becomes without a conscious. You lose your values and morals
and step where Angels fear to tread. Into the dark world. The dark world becomes and even
darker place as you become careless with material possessions and reckless with things that
are more significant,e.g.the love and care of your parents, kids and family. Once youve done
enough damage there, its time to eat away at your self-respect and self-confidence by doing
things that you thought you were never capable of. Some, rob, steal and hurt others to feed
their drug habit. Others sell their souls through their bodies for more drugs.
Fortunately, I was savedbefore reaching any of those levels. I am however ashamed of sexual
experiences resulting from leaving clubs high and being jovial with people just offering me
more drugs. I pray that God is merciful and forgiving of my shortcomings.
Gods mercy and kindness is infinite and the opposite end of the continuum rings true as well.
The more good you do, the more the light shines through.
On the dark end, the darkness envelopes you and creates chaos, where everything in your life
starts going south at an exponential rate because you lose self-control. The trouble is that
you so self-involved and so far from reality that the problem always has other roots. There is
always someone else to blame for the mishap. It was always someone elses fault. You did
nothing wrong. You have no responsibility, no accountability. In effect, you have no life
because you are enslaved by drugs. Your entire being is centred on the getting and using of
drugs irrespective of the consequences. In this state, you have absolutely no conscious
concept of the true impact of your choices and actions on others or for yourself, for that
matter.
We are too blind when we are high to realisethat Gods power is omnipotent. That everything
happens by his will based on our choices.
Drugs takes away our freedom to choose when we become dependent on it to survive. Our
choice by default becomes how do we get money for more? We use to celebrate, we use in
sorrow, any excuse to use some more.
But time waits for no man, before we know it, years have passed and we are still committed
doing the same actions. Zero human progress. Contrary to human nature, we fester our souls
and stagnate our potential. Ultimately, we regress as people and become liabilities to our
families and society at large.
As we clean up, we start realising the depth of the mess that we created. We become
conscious of people we have harmed and the extent of our faults and the resulting holes.
Having said all this, it is my belief that God picks his strongest soldiers to fight his battles.
Everyone is on the own journey of learning and growing. The Almighty will keep teaching you
the lesson until you truly and completely understand it, in order to move to the next step of
your journey. Unfortunately, many dont move forward quick enough before death becomes
them or until they completely rot. Some are not chosen to be saved.
I am truly grateful for being awarded the fortunate experience of being a part of TAG as a
divertee. Without it, I would have continued tainting my light by being a functional drug
addict if such a thing truly exists. I realise the damage to my life with crystal clear
vision.which is required to remedy.
I look forward to living and I am deeply grateful for the support.
Thank you,
Bahia Dangor
