• #2: �ݺ�ߣ 1  Introduction to Capricornia I am as honoured, as I am proud, to stand before you today, to represent my great home, as the member for Capricornia, whose passionate, loyal and supportive people, I thank for entrusting this great responsibility on me. We are Capricornia. We may be small, but our contribution is not. The electorate of Capricornia spans from ….. to …… (Great Barrier Reef runs straight through us)Our communities, and our people are as diverse, as colourful and as ………. as the picturesque landscape which greets us at every angle.
• #3: �ݺ�ߣ 2 – An anecdote As a six year old, my small feet firmly cemented into the sand of Lammermoore Beach in Yeppoon; I waved goodbye to my parents who embarked off into the tangerine and blush sunset on a massive cruise ship. I was enchanted by the journey ahead of them. They had described it to me. White pearly beaches, crystal blue water where you could see the magic of the underwater world, the green forests home to all the native animals I could imagine. It was a fantasy. A magic land, far, far away. As I waited for the cruise ship to disappear in the distance, it didn’t. Whilst the cruise ship, to me, was getting smaller and smaller. I could still see it. And that’s when it dawned on me, this was no fantasy. This magical land wasn’t far, far away. It was MY backyard. This fantasy land, they called Great Keppel, was MY home. And from that day forward, I vowed to love and care for that fantasy land. Because it was mine.
• #4: �ݺ�ߣ 3 – Continue on from �ݺ�ߣ 2 with discussion to my first passion – TOURISMBody 1 of my speech will pertain to the discussion of tourism within the region, and how important it is to actively work to maintain high tourism levels. Tourism is increasingly playing a role in the development of our city and surrounds. It is essential to our growth, our development, our community.- Discuss the Great Keppel Island development - Economic diversity for the Region-Unrivalled community lifestyle benefits- Increased tourism visitation increased expenditure in the region This discussion will then branch on to my correlated passion of JOB CREATION within the region
• #5: �ݺ�ߣ 4 – Job CreationThis part of the speech will discuss the impacts of tourism on job creation. Creation of 1,400 new jobsI’d also like to work another anecdote within this body of the text, to provide a localised perspective. I will begin this through re-telling the story of when I was driving down the main street of Yeppoon, and noticed a peculiar sight. A middle-aged man, holding an ‘I Need A Job’ sign. This man, whom has years of experience in various trades, swallowed his pride, to market himself to the town of Yeppoon, as an unemployed man, in desperate need of a job. We need to help people, like my new friend, Kevin. I am committed to ensuring that none of the people within my community ever have to take such drastic measures again to gain employment.
• #6: �ݺ�ߣ 5 – Sustainable Development This slide will promote another of my passions – sustainable development. It can have reference to Great Keppel, and my plans to ensure every aspect of development is sustainable. Protecting one of the wonders of the world – The Great Barrier Reef - Could possibly make reference back to my opening anecdote – to maintain and preserve that magical land for generations to come. I can also state my strong stance against no coal ports in the region and my commitment to ensure they are not inserted into local reefs.
• #7: �ݺ�ߣ 6 – Education This last slide will promote my concluding passion for education and my commitment to ensure every child in the region is provided with the best possible opportunity for quality education. - more funding for local schools Working closely with local education and employment providers to identify at-risk youth, to provide them with pathways to increase both educational outcomes and employment opportunitiesEnsuring successful merger with CQU and CQ TafeReduction in expenses Improving academic standards Providing tertiary institutions, schools and students with the resources and the support necessary to meet their needs.
• #8: Concluding �ݺ�ߣ – Revert back to CapricorniaThis slide will somehow revert back to the original message of describing Capricornia. It may be inclusive of reference to the introducing anecdote of protecting my home, my backyard, my fantasy land. Will make reference to ‘we’ as a community – ‘our’ people
