Roger Federer has exclusively used Wilson tennis racquets throughout his career, starting with the Pro Staff 6.0 85 from 1998-2001. He helped develop the Wilson Prototype in 2014 and currently uses the Wilson Pro Staff RF97 Autograph, with which he won the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2017. 3. Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85 – Chinese production
1998-2001
The Pro Staff 6.0 85 is one of the most prolific racquets ever made. This racquet
was used to secure 23 Grand Slam titles including the 14 from Pete Sampras.
The Pro Staff 6.0 was first produced in 1982 and there have been four versions of
this racquet including the Chicago, St Vincent, Taiwan and Chinese versions. It has
been used by Pete Sampras, Jimmy Connors, Jim Courier, Stefan Edberg, Chris
Evert, Roger Federer, and Mary Pierce.
The Pro Staff 85 6.0 St Vincent version was preferred by Pete Sampras. As Pete
was a childhood hero of Roger – Roger chose the frame used by his hero. Roger
used the Chinese production version to defeat Pete Sampras in 2001 in the 4th
round of Wimbledon 7-6 , 5-7, 6-4, 6-7, 7-5.
Whilst there is little difference in the performance of each of the four production
versions, the St Vincent version is considered the most collectible.

Hyper Pro Staff 6.0 (May 2002-Jan 2003)
0 Grand Slams 3 Titles (2 with HPS 6.1, 1 with HPS 6.0)
Hyper Pro Staff 6.1 Silver W was the racket of choice for Roger at the start of the
2002 season, but it was merely a paint job over his Pro Staff 85. The retail version
was a 95 square inch head, but Roger has never used above a 90 sq inch head at
that time, and a transition from 85 to 95 is unlikely.
Hyper Pro Staff 6.0 was the first official 90 sq inch racquet used by Roger in the
latter half of 2002

10. Wilson Prototype Racquet
Jan-June 2014
0 Grand Slam 2 ATP Titles
Roger started working with Wilson to develop a 97 sq inch racquet resulting in a
racquet with a larger sweet spot without sacrificing the feel.
“For me switching rackets was not only about a larger head,” Federer said in fall
2014. “I was also looking for a racket that was more forgiving and could provide
me with easy power. It was also important that my racket was responsive and
offered the same great feel I had grown accustomed to in my previous Wilson Pro
Staff rackets. The larger racket suits my attacking style, allowing me to play more
aggressively and with less risk.”
After a very bad second half of the 2013 season, in 2014 with this racket Roger
was back to play a good tennis and won two titles:

knee injury. Roger returned in early 2017 with a new racquet and a new attitude.
His phenomenal performance in 2017 has resulted in him clinching his 18th and 19th
Grand Slam titles as well as an unprecedented 8th Wimbledon title.
