Department of Electrical Engineering
School of Engineering
Swami Vivekananda University conceptualized on the soil of West
Bengal under Regent Education & Research Foundation Trust, a
non-profit-making trust which has been set up to promote the
professional education of highest standards and to encourage
research and training activities so that the students, conferred with
the degree can not only meet the professional challenges but also all
the challenges life has to offer. In this era of economic liberalization,
globalization and technological super advancements our motto is to
put quality education in the light of Swamiji’s vision of spreading
education throughout the society.
Sustainable power systems, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology -electrical
engineers are at the forefront of emerging technology. But not only that.
They impact our daily lives in ways we rarely notice. From power grids to
traffic lights and mobile phones, electrical engineers have a hand in those.
Indeed, what would the world be without them? With that said, here are
other ways electrical engineering has contributed to our society. From
ancient Egyptians to Arabic naturalists to Benjamin Franklin, electricity had
long fascinated humans even before they understood the phenomenon.
Electrical engineering is a branch of science concerned with circuit theory,
power system, electrical machines, power electronics, and control systems.
Electrical Engineering deals with the understanding, designing of electrical
and electronic devices and application of concepts to electricity.
With the growing demand for Electrical Engineers in the core sectors of
Government and private industries, the Department of Electrical Engineering
of Swami Vivekananda University is making best efforts to produce highly
trained, employable and capable technocrats who can take up the challenges
of the real world. We encourage project or problem-based learning and
emphasize on teaching the concept and not the mere facts. Students are not
only prepared to develop the skill for tests but also to pursue the knowledge
to innovate. We make a constant endeavour to inculcate the spirit of
teamwork rather than group work. The Electrical Engineering Department
has specialized faculties in all important areas of Electrical Engineering such
as power system, power electronics & drives, control & automation,
measurements, machines and signal processing. The academic and research
activities in the department focus on the frontier areas of Electrical
Engineering such as power quality studies, applications of microprocessors &
microcontrollers, smart grid design, non-conventional energy sources and its
system integration with the main power grid etc.
