INTRODUCTION
• Turkish automotive company Tofas, whose foundations were laid by
the founder of the Koc Holding Vehbi Koc in 1968
• The only automotive company in Turkey that manufactures both
passenger car and light commercial vehicle, Tofas comes to the fore
as the biggest manufacturer of the Turkish automotive industry
today with its production capacity of 400.000 units per year.
• Within the scope of Minicargo project, Tofas is manufacturing for
Fiat, Citroen and Peugeot besides manufacturing for Opel and
Vauxhall within the scope of New Fiat Doblo project.
• Tofas is a global player that has been manufacturing for 5 brands in
its factory in Bursa which has a privileged position in the highest
rank by achieving “Silver” production level within 170 Fiat Group
factory of the World Class Manufacturing.

INTRODUCTION
• As the pioneer of the Turkish automotive industry, Tofas is a
company that creates 25.9% of the total sector production by
itself.
• Tofas exports 80 countries by the year of 2011 and its share
received from the total automotive industry export is at the
level of 22.8% with 180.698 units.
• While Tofas receives 15% share from the national automotive
market through the brands in its constitution, Turkey stands in
the position of the third biggest market of the world after Brazil
and Italy.
• Showing a successful performance in the national automotive
market by now with 5 brands, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati
and Ferrari; Tofas proceeds on its way in 2012 with 6 brands by

Fiat Labs in Technical High Schools
The Fiat Laboratories – Fiat Technical
School Program was realised in record time
following the signing of a development protocol in
2008, in connection with the “Meslek Lisesi
Memleket Meselesi” – ‘Vocational Education – A
crucial matter for the nation’ initiated by Koç
Holding in 2006; with the aim of developing human
potential for a skilled workforce, particularly to fulfill
the evident needs of the automotive industry.

In the academic period of 2008-2009 11
Fiat labs were established in nine provinces
following on from the foundation of the Fiat lab. at
Şişli Technical High School (Şişli Endüstri Meslek

UU-Politecnico di Torino an Automotive Engineering Post-Graduate
Research Programme Collaboration
The first foreign university
supported automotive masters program in
Turkey was initiated in cooperation with
Politecnico di Torino and Uludağ University
in 2007 through the instigation of Tofaş. This
foreign supported pioneering masters
program holds great importance for Turkey
in strengthening the cooperation
mechanisms of the automotive sector and

Tofaş Basketball Schools and the Basketball Volunteers Project
Tofaş Sports Club initiated two
projects aimed at promoting basketball and
providing opportunities to raise sportsmen
out of youth system.
Coach trainings were organized in
Bursa between 9 and 13 February 2010 in
the context of the Basketball Volunteers
project held in TEGEV’s education parks in
10 cities.

Anatolian Cars and Carriages)”
The “Tofaş Anadolu Arabaları Müzesi
(Tofaş Museum of Anatolian Cars and
Carriages)”, was founded with Tofaş sponsorship
in Bursa in 2002, on a 17,000m² site allocated
for the purpose by the city of Bursa,
To date the museum, has hosted
more than 250,000 visitors.

This museum, among the first of its kind in Turkey and unique in its scope, reveals to
visitors the turn of the simple cart wheel overland from Asia to Anatolia through the
millennia, and gives them an intriguing glimpse of the colourful history of cart and

the Turkish automotive industry of today.

Sponsorship of Excavations at Küçükyalı, Istanbul
Another site which has been
under our sponsorship since the start of
excavations eight years ago, is known as
the Küçükyalı Archaeological Area
(Küçükyalı Arkeoloji Parkı) and is located
at Küçükyalı. Excavations at this site,
which have been underway since 2001,
are being carried out by a joint team of
Turkish and Italian archaeologists under
the authority and supervision of the
Ministry of Culture, Directorate of

Financial support provided by Tofaş was particularly used for excavation works on
this monumental monastery tower. The discovered monastery tower is a first in Istanbul
Byzantine archeology and a very significant artifact because it is the oldest and only example
of its time.

Tofaş, aims to reflect its contribution to the country’s economy through
support for social responsibility projects in three main priority areas: education, culture
& the arts and the environment.
It is in this context that they have chosen those areas which are priorities of
the country’s development, and at the same fields which embrace global values, such as
education, environment and the arts.
