Top 10 adventure sports
1. Heli-skiing
• Heli-skiing is down-hill snowboarding with an exciting twist.
Forget the normal ski lift, Heli-skiing is accessed by a
helicopter. The skiers are taken to the mountains onboard the
helicopter and are then unloaded with a guide.
2. Volcano Boarding
• Volcano boarding involves zooming down an
active Volcano at a high speed of 90km/hr and
using your heels to steer & brake.
3. Downhill Mountain Biking
• Downhill mountain biking is extreme no doubt, but
quite a popular adventurous activity. This involves
biking down the hills with suspension bikes that
quickly glide over rocks and treeroots.
4. Fresh Water Cave Diving
• Scuba diving is just too simple a task for the thrill seekers,
that’s why they notch it up a bit with fresh water cave diving.
Factors such as visibility, strong water currents and lack of
proper equipment make this such a risky sport! Crazy stuff!
5. Sky Diving
• Made popular thanks to films like Zindagi Na Milegi
Dobara, sky diving is one activity that is on
everyone’s to-do list. The thrill of jumping off a plane
at 10,000 feet is like nothing else in this world!
6. Bouldering
• That’s rock climbing minus all the safety equipments and
ropes. Yes, the normal rock-climbing adventure with safety
precautions is just not enough for some people! Bouldering is
a big sport all over the world and is practiced on heights
ranging from 20ft to 30ft.
7. Kite Surfing
• An extreme combination of water boarding and
paragliding, kite surfing involves the surfer moving
through the waves and propelling himself forward
with a controllable power kite.
8. Ice Climbing
• Ice climbing usually involves ascending frozen waterfalls or
other ice formations on the rocks with the help of ropes and
other special equipment. Colorado’s Ouray Ice Park was the
first and most popular park devoted exclusively to this
extreme sport.
9. Micro Flying
• Flying in a two-seater has its own thrill. No wonder
then that this sport is quite a popular one. The
season for micro flying in India is from October to
March and the best sites are Mysore (old airport),
Jakkur (Bangalore) and Tambaram (Chennai).
10. Bull riding
• This dangerous sport involves staying on top of the bull while
the large animal tries to throw you off. According to the
American tradition, the rider needs to stay on the bull for a
complete 8 seconds. You can also opt for a far less risky sport -
mechanic bull riding in various places around the world.
