Lebanon is a small country located on the eastern Mediterranean coast between Syria, Palestine, and the Mediterranean Sea. It has a population of around 3.7 million people and its capital and largest city is Beirut. Lebanon has a diverse population with influences from Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, and Arabs and is home to many religious sects, with around 40% Christian and 60% Muslim. The country was once prosperous but suffered from civil war and conflict. It now relies heavily on tourism, banking, and industries.

The culture of Lebanon is a cross-culture that has developed over thousands of years through influence from various civilizations including the Phoenicians, Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Crusaders, and Ottomans. Lebanese culture has evolved by borrowing from these groups and is further shaped by Lebanon's diverse ethnic and religious populations. Despite differences, Lebanese share a common culture including language, food, music, and literature that are rooted in Mediterranean and Levantine traditions. Beirut emerged as a major center for modern Arab thought and Armenian culture in the early 20th century.
