Spain has a favorable trade balance with Portugal, exporting more goods than it imports. With the UK, trade is balanced with similar levels of exports and imports. However, Spain's trade balances are negative with China and Germany, importing more than exporting to those countries. A key reason for a decline in visitors to Spain in 2009 was the economic crisis in 2008. France receives the most tourists in the world at 89 million visitors annually. Spain is the second most visited country, attracting 83 million visitors each year. Some factors that make Spain an appealing tourist destination include its excellent beaches, government policies promoting tourism, large investments in infrastructure for tourists, and rich cultural heritage.
