? Travel and tourism industry is the second highest 
foreign exchange earner for India.

? Indian tourism industry contributes to around 5.9% of the 
country¡¯s GDP. 
? The booming success of Indian tourism industry has led to a 
drastic change in the hospitality department as well. 
? It provides employment to around 41.8 million of 
inhabitants. 
? The online tourism industry has accounted for a turn over of 
USD 800 million.

from the travel and tourism industry.

millions of people in India through its linkage with other 
sectors of the economy.
? More disposable income in the hands of middle class. 
? India is a booming IT hub 
? Aggressive advertising campaign ¡°Incredible India¡± 
by Tourism ministry.
? The demand for travel and tourism in India is 
expected to grow by 8.2% between 2010 and 2019. 
? Expected to be the second largest employer in 
the world. 
? Projected to become the fifth fastest growing 
business travel destination from 2010-2019.
? Worker shortage.
