WHAT IS A BUSINESS BRIGADE? BUSINESS MODEL: BRIGADERS ROLE Business brigades provide volunteers with the opportunity to work first-hand with community banks, family businesses, and Business Program directors, coordinators, technicians and translators to: Provide financial literacy education Micro-enterprise counselling and consulting Promote community-based credit and savings to community members Empower communities via mutually beneficial cultural exchanges Establish and foster global relationships IMPROVING FINANCIAL ACCESS FINANCIAL EDUCATION MICRO-ENTERPRISE TRAINING & CONSULTING

WELCOME PACKET OVERVIEWYour Funding Information HOW IS YOUR BUSINESS BRIGADE FUNDED? Volunteers Program Contribution: $1,548 - $890 (Panama) - Airfare: ~$700, Variable - Membership Dues $50 Fees Include: - 7 day program - Accommodation & Meals - Airport pick-up and drop off - In-country transportation - Spanish translations, coordinators, security - Program sustainability & follow up between brigades PAYMENT HARD DEADLINES ($250) OCTOBER 2, 2015 ($800 TOTAL) OCTOBER 28, 2015 (REMAINING BALANCE) DECEMBER 13, 2015 IMPORTANT NOTE: You must have these total balances in your account by the stated dates. Feel free to add money into your account as you please/are able to up until the date.
What your $890 does for Global Brigades International: Brigade logistics (53%) Includes lodging, food, GB staff, transportation, pharmacy utilities, compound expenses, compounds staff, warehouse assitants, extra medicine and medical/dental equipment, etc. Project continuation and sustainable transitions (18%) Includes Community Development/R&E staff, community follow-up, data informatics system patient referral system, community health workers (CHW) program, etc. In-country administration (16%) Includes office fees, staff salaries, etc. GB Association (13%) Includes international programming, student leadership conferences, etc. WHERE DO YOUR PROGRAM FEES GO- Your money supports your GB Program
Potential ideas to jumpstart your fundraising: Personalize Your Fundraising Page/ Start a GoFundMe Add a picture to your fundraising page, add a story about yourself, explain your intentions and qualifications. Use this page as a link to send to family, friends, coworkers etc. Share it on your Facebook! Bake Sales During Midterms/Finals (Coffee Sales?) Large potential margin on sales in which you make your own product and sell it Shirts/USC Gear Brainstorm potential shirts for USC games or other pride shirts. HOW CAN I PAY FOR GLOBAL BRIGADES- Fundraising Strategies & Tools Fundraising Disclaimers: Fundraising is as much of a group effort as it is an individual, do not underestimate the power of individual fundraising! Trip Travel: Airplane Flight Will be booked as a group departing from LAX. Information regarding transportation to LAX will be provided closer to departure. Brigade Travel: Global Brigades on-site transportation services provided Required for Travel: VALID Passport Your passport must be valid for 6 months AFTER departure date of January 9, 2015. If it is going to expire prior to 6 MONTHS AFTER, you must begin the passport renewal process IMMEDIATELY and ask for expedited shipping. No Visa necessary if from: (not an exhaustive list) USA, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Canada TRAVEL INFORMATION- What do you need to ensure an easy travel process? Currently: In the process of confirming if any visas are necessary for other countries of origin. Please contact us if you do not posses a US Passport. MORE INFORMATION: Citizens of [China, India] holding a valid visa or permanent residency from any of the following countries: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, or any of the member countries of the European Union, which has been used at least once to enter those countries, do not require a visa for a stay of up to 30 days

USC HEALTH TRAVEL CLINIC: Your Trip Leaders will coordinate a mandatory health travel clinic at the USC Engemanns Health Center The Travel Clinic at the Engemann Student Health Center offers personalized health and travel information to the students of USC. Students will receive consultations based upon their personal health, immunization history and areas of intended travel. Students will be provided with the most current travel information available from the Centers for Disease Control and from a computerized Travel Health Information Service. HEALTH INFORMATION- Pre-Trip Precautions 6 Weeks prior to departure Panama-specific recommendations Information on International SOS health insurance Immunization suggestions Anti-Malaria prescription Detailed health-packing list with brand suggestions
