Matt Savoie visited Tiger Creek near Pioneer, California to document the local geology and plant life. He observed shale and granite rock samples and identified plant samples as Himalayan blackberry, white fir, and white alder. The brief geological history noted that 250 million years ago subduction began, causing plutonic rock to rise and the Sierra Nevada mountains to begin forming 80 million years ago. Tiger Creek features a deep granite canyon with large boulders and rapids, as well as granite domes and steep gorges downstream.
