There are 18 fourth grade students, 10 male and 8 female, with 13 white students and 5 African American students. The students will use a poster, objects to make a diorama, and desktop publishing to identify and name the layers of the Amazon Rainforest in a lesson, and then apply what they learn by making a diorama in small groups and posting about it online.

A- There are 18 fourth grade students. 10 students are male and 8 are female. 13 of the
students are white and 5 are African-American.
S- Students will identify and name the strata of the Amazon Rainforest with 90% accuracy by
the end of the lesson.
S- Materials used will be a poster with photoshopped image(s), miscellaneous objects to create
a diorama, and desktop publishing.
U- Students will use the poster as a reference point in constructing a diorama. Students will
create a desktop publishing assignment.
R- Students will view and discuss the poster and will then use the information learned to
construct a diorama of the rainforest strata with small groups. Students will post pictures and
descriptions of their dioramas on the class Wiki page.
E- Students will be evaluated on being able to identify the layers and having those layers
included in the diorama.
