There has been a significant increase in the number of systematic reviews published each year, with over 25,000 now available on MEDLINE and over 7,000 added each year. The rapid growth poses challenges for keeping up with all relevant evidence but systematic reviews also help synthesize overwhelming amounts of research for clinicians and researchers.
