Today's lesson builds on the previous discussion about defining and explaining social, cultural, and political changes. The purpose is to help students identify different types of changes in society, culture, and politics, and understand how these changes impact individuals and communities. Examples of changes discussed include the impact of globalization on cultural identity, the role of social movements in changing laws and policies, and the effects of technological advancements and climate change. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson Today's lesson is about defining and explaining social, cultural, and political changes. We previously learned about the significance of understanding culture, society, and politics, and now we will delve into the different types of changes that occur in these areas. Today's lesson will build on the previous lesson about defining and explaining social, cultural, and political changes. We will explore common concerns or events within society that result in changes and how these phenomena affect our lives. a. Greet the students and review the previous lesson on social and cultural change. b. Introduce the new topic of the lesson which is the appreciation of the concept of social and cultural change. 2. Establishing the purpose of the lesson The purpose of this lesson is to help the students identify the different types of changes that occur in society, culture, and politics, and how these changes affect individuals and communities. By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to identify common concerns or events within society that lead to change and understand the impact of these changes on their lives. a. Explain to the students that the lesson aims to appreciate the concept of social and cultural change. b. Emphasize the importance of understanding social and cultural change in the modern world. 3. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson a. To give students an idea of what we will be discussing, we will present examples of social, cultural, and political changes. b. Examples of social changes include changes in family structure, gender roles, and social norms. Examples of cultural changes include changes in language, beliefs, and traditions. Understanding the impact of technological advancements on job opportunities and the economy. b. Analyzing the effects of climate change on society, politics and culture. a. Present the different theories and perspectives on social and cultural change, such as modernization theory, dependency theory, and world systems theory. b. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of these theories and encourage students to develop their own perspectives. 6. Developing Mastery For the developing mastery portion of the lesson, we will have an interactive activity. In groups, the students will discuss and identify different examples of social, cultural, and political changes in their communities. Each group will then present their findings and discuss how these changes impact the community. Interacting and engaging activity: Divide the class into groups and ask them to research and present a case study on a significant social, cultural, or political change in their local community or country. After the presentations, facilitate a group discussion about the causes and effects of the changes and how it affected the community or society as a whole. a.
