The Taj Mahal is located in Agra, India, about 200 kilometres north of Delhi. It was built by Shah Jahan, a Mughal emperor, as a tomb for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died in 1631 while giving birth to her 14th child. Shah Jahan was heartbroken by her death and had the Taj Mahal built in her memory over a period of 20 years using over 20,000 workers and craftsmen. The white marble mausoleum is surrounded by beautiful gardens.

its immaculate beauty by chiseling out
precious stones and lapis lazuli from its walls
