The Training Programme for Salvation Army Officers consists of academic study, placements in social services and corps, and theological reflection. Trainees complete a Diploma of Higher Education in Salvation Army Officer Training validated by the University of Gloucestershire. The course is divided into four fields of study: personal growth and spiritual development, biblical studies, faith in practice, and ministry and mission. Each field requires 300 hours of learning per year split into modules that are worth credits based on the estimated hours of learning required.
