The UN Cares program establishes 10 minimum standards to reduce the impact of HIV in the UN workplace by supporting universal access to benefits for all personnel and their families. The standards help save lives, improve well-being, reduce stigma, and sustain the UN's capacity for its core work. They provide (1) information about UN policies on HIV, (2) information to prevent transmission and access services, and (3) training to reduce stigma and discrimination. The standards also provide (4) access to condoms, (5) voluntary counseling and testing, (6) insurance covering HIV expenses, and (7) confidential handling of personal information.
