BarCamp is an unconventional conference where participants can both attend presentations and give their own presentations on a variety of topics. It began in 2005 in Silicon Valley and has since spread globally to places like Africa, Asia, South America, North America, Europe, and Oceania. Unlike traditional conferences which charge fees and feature single presenters in rooms, BarCamp is free for participants to attend, has multiple concurrent sessions, and enables any attendee to organize and lead a session. Community and collaboration naturally develop between participants through sharing ideas and working on projects together.
