You can download videos from YouTube using keepvid.com, then import them into iMovie by creating a new movie without a theme and dragging the downloaded video files into the timeline. This allows you to edit the video and audio, adding voiceovers or splitting clips, with iMovie automatically saving your work.

How to Use imovie
Choose your video on youtube
Go to ‘keepvid.com’ Type you tube url in box and download
Select download from the list (720p)
Open imovie
From ‘File’, select ‘New Movie’
Choose ‘No Theme’ then press create Save / Name file
Upload video to imovie • Locate video (try downloads) • Drag video to imovies
The frames of the video will be showing
Copy and past all the frames and drag them to the lower part of the screen Expand number of frames if necessary (usually 2nd from left)
Move white bar to the left and play Amend the audio on the blue bar as needed
Press the microphone and then the red button to record over the video
The green bar is your recorded voice.
You can now edit your recording * See Split clip imovies has automatic save
