This document discusses different types of energy and machines. It describes six main types of energy - electrical, light, chemical, thermal, sound, and kinetic energy. It also discusses renewable and non-renewable energy sources like solar, wind, water, crude oil, natural gas, and coal. Finally, it defines simple and complex machines, provides examples of simple machines like levers and pulleys, and mentions common tools used with machines.

Energy cant be destroyed. It卒s indestructible
TYPES OF ENERGY
There are many types of energy: sound energy, electrical energy, light energy,
chemical energy, thermal energy and kinetic energy.
ELECTRICAL ENERGY
We use electrical energy everyday.
Light bulbs use electrical energy.
THERMAL ENERGY
Thermal energy produces heat.
The Sun produces lots of thermal energy.
A radiator turns electric energy into thermal energy.
SOUND ENERGY
Sound energy produce sound.
Anything that makes a sound has sound energy.
When we walk we produce sound energy.
A radio turns electrical energy into sound energy.
KINETIC ENERGY
Moving things have kinetic energy.
When we ride a bike we turn the chemical energy from the food we eat into kinetic
energy.
A car engine turns chemical energy into kinetic energy.
2. LIGHT ENERGY
Traffic lights produce light energy
The Sun produces light energy
A bulb turns electrical energy into light energy
CHEMICAL ENERGY
Food contains chemical energy.
Our body turns this energy into thermal or kinetic energy.
2.- SOURCES OF ENERGY
NON RENEWABLE ENERGY
Non renewable energy sources come from the ground and the seabed.
We cannot replace these materials and they will run out.
ground seabed
CRUDE OIL
Crude oil comes from the ground or from the seabed.
We extract it using drills.
We get petrol from crude oil. We burn petrol to produce thermal energy.
3. NATURAL GAS
Natural gas is a mixture of gases.
Natural gas comes from the ground or from the seabed.
We extract it using drills.
We burn natural gas to produce thermal energy.
COAL
Coal comes from the ground.
We mine it. We burn coal to produce thermal energy.
RENEWABLE ENERGY
The Sun, wind and water are renewable sources of energy.
They are renewable sources of energy because they do not run out.
They do not cause pollution.
SOLAR ENERGY
Solar energy comes from the Sun.
Solar panels turn the Suns light into electrical or thermal energy.
WIND ENERGY
Wind energy comes from the wind.
Wind farms turn wind energy into electrical energy.
4. WATER ENERGY
Water energy comes from the water
Hidroelectrical power stations turn the movement of water into electrical energy.
3.- MACHINES
A machine is something we use to make work easier.
Machines can be simple or complex:
A simple machine has few or no moving parts.
A complex machine is made up of simple machines.
Complex machines have lots of different parts.
For example, computers are complex machines.
All machines use energy.
SIMPLE MACHINES
There are some examples of simple machines.
An inclined plane
We use inclined planes to move objects up and down in different levels.
At the skate park you can enjoy them!
5. A screw
We use screws to hold things together or lift objects.
A wedge
We use wedges to cut objects.
A wheel and axle.
We use wheels and axles to move objects from one place to another.
A lever
We use levers to lift objects.
In a park you have fun playing with the seesaw.
A pulley
We use a pulley to lift and lower heavy objects.
6. TOOLS
We use screws to fix objects together. We use a screwdriver to turn screws
We use nuts and bolts to hold objects together
We use a spanner to turn bolts.
We see use a waw to cut wood or other materials
We use a hammer to knock nails into a surface
