Phoebe Clarkson was born in London but moved to Weston village near Bristol with her father after her mother had a miscarriage and left. Phoebe cooks and cleans for her depressed father while achieving good grades in school. She escapes to an imaginary world of an Ice Palace where she has ice powers and battles a Fire Witch. She suffers from depression but finds purpose in helping the people of the Ice Palace. Her friends Luke and Skye support her in the real world.

- 1. Phoebe Grace Clarkson was born on the 22nd of March, 1997 in Central London. She lived there for 3 and a half years with her mother (Lilly Jane Clarkson) and father (Michael Anthony Clarkson) until her mother left them both after having a miscarriage 7 months into her pregnancy. After this, Phoebe and her father moved to a small village near Bristol called Weston. Phoebe's father and her have a really unhealthy relationship. Phoebe cooks and cleans, whilst her dad copes with depression through binge drinking and watching TV. Phoebe attended WVC (Weston Village College) for both her GCSEs and is now facing studies in A Level. She studies Art, History, Music and English for A Levels and does very well in each of her subjects. Her passion for music is important in her school life. She plays piano, acoustic guitar and she writes songs, which is therapeutic for her. Each night, Phoebe travels up above the clouds to a land made of ice. Her goal is to defeat the Fire Witch, who is the arch enemy of the Ice Palace. Phoebe has the power to shoot ice from the palm of her hand and breathe out such cold air that turns water to ice. This is a secret from her dad, and everybody around her, except obviously Luke and Skye who join her every night to the Ice Palace. In spite of her out-going, friendly personality, Phoebe suffers from depression that was mainly triggered by her father doing nothing for the household. This isn't a flaw to most people except herself, as she feels that it stops her from seeing the good side of things. Although she shows a brave face, she has insecurities and is ashamed of her differences from the world. She also often feels like everything depends on her. Although defeating the Fire Witch has nothing to do with her earthly achievements, it is her main goal and she knows it will mean everything to her people so she makes it her priority. Her motivation is that it will be helping her people and it will make a difference for them; something her father and mother never did for her. In a way, she is the mother of the palace - or that's how she sees it in a way. Phoebe has blonde hair and blue eyes. She is a plain person, with plain tastes in everything. Music, food, clothing. She's not interested in looks, and often feels low about the way she looks. Her friends, Luke and Skye keep her positive though, and help her not to worry.
- 2. Luke James Mason was born on the 15th of October, 1996 in his own home in Weston. He's lived in the same house all his life with his mother (Annabelle Sarah Mason) and his father (Benjamin Neil Mason) and lives a positive home life. He has a little sister, (Janet Patricia Mason) who is 14 and a little brother, (Jonathan Lee Mason) who is 12. Luke always has struggled in being the oldest as he feels the pressure to set an example to his younger siblings and do well in absolutely everything eg. school, college, university, responsibilities, everything. Like Phoebe, he uses the ice world as an escape from his difficulties at home. Since he's known Phoebe he has been interested in her and always tries to get her to go out with him but she never agrees because their friendship is too important. Luke suffers from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) which makes him struggle in lessons he doesn't like, eg mathematics. Luke is a sarcastic person who often uses humour as a defense mechanism. He has trouble making friends in spite of his sensitive and funny nature, but when he does make friends, they're good ones and they always stay around. Skye Williams was born in South Africa whilst her (British) parents were on a 6 week holiday on the 18th of December 1996. (Her mother - Taylor Williams and her father - Lewis Williams) Skye lives in Weston and has lived there since she was seven years old. She used to live in Cambridge but her family moved when her youngest brother (Andy Frederick Williams) was hit by a car on the way home from school. After that happened they decided they wanted a quieter life. Skye has dyslexia and has always felt like she was stupid and different. Skye was brought up in a Christian home which made her feel even more different, as nobody really understands her differences in morals, and learning. She misses her brother but always wears a brave face, as she doesn't like looking weak. She has a plain personality but always wants to look her best even though she feels like she has no one who appreciates it. She is often jealous of Phoebe as she sees Phoebe being admired by Luke and a few other boys and Skye is liked by no one in her opinion. But still, she continues to put on a brave face.
