UPES held its annual blood donation camp over four days in March 2016, collecting a record 550 liters of blood from 1568 donors. This was the largest collection in the history of the annual camp held by UPES for the past decade. Nearly 2000 volunteers registered to donate blood, though 381 were deferred for medical reasons. The donation camp was organized in partnership with the Blood Bank of Indian Medical Association and Shri Mahant Indresh Hospital Trust. It was led by staff from UPES and supported by deans, department heads, and the medical and administration teams, who helped make it a success.

UPES BREAKS ALL PREVIOUS RECORDS: ANNUAL BLOOD DONATION CAMP
550 Liters of Human Blood Donated
UPES has been contributing to the state of Uttarakhand on several fronts directly and indirectly through
various social initiatives for the past 12 years. The noblest of them all being giving away a part of
themselves by volunteering to donate their blood. This activity is being conducting annually at UPES
campus for the past decade. This year’s Annual Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized in
association with Blood Bank of Indian Medical Association and Shri Mahant Indresh Hospital Trust over
four days across the Kandoli & Bidholi campuses of UPES on 28th
, 29th
, 30th
& 31st
March 2016.
The doctors and staff of the two medical agencies were overwhelmed at the initiative and motivation
levels of the students and staff of UPES more so because the donations were carried out on full academic
days. Highly self-motivated students and staff self-managed their packed schedules to volunteer for this
noble cause. The camp hours had to be extended on all four days.
Mr. Arun Dhand, Director – Media Affairs informed that a record breaking 1568 units of blood was
collected by the two medical agencies on the four days which translates into nearly 470 Liters of human
blood and if this donated blood was to be stored in 20 liter drums, it would require 27 such drums. Over
these four days approximately 2000 volunteers registered themselves to donate blood, out of which 381
had to be deferred because of medical reasons.
The Organizing and coordinating team of UPES at this year’s camp was led by Mr Anant Mishra, Senior
Sports Officer and Mr Manish Madaan, Assistant Director Student Affairs under the guidance of Mr.
Sanjiv Zutshi, Senior Director and Brig (Retd) Anil Sharma, Director-Students Affairs.
This noble cause was whole heartedly supported by the Deans and the Head of Departments apart from
the medical services team and the Administration team of UPES. Key Roles in motivating staff members
was played out by Dr Nikhil Kulshrestha, Assistant Dean; Dr N B Soni and Dr Manish Prateek, Assistant
Dean.
Dr Shrihari, the Vice Chancellor of UPES expressed his gratitude and thanked one and all for keeping the
UPES Flag Flying high at the conclusion of this four day long camp.

From the Desk of: ARUN DHAND DIRECTOR –GOVERNMENT RELATIONS & MEDIA AFFAIRS April 01, 2016 Press Note UPES BREAKS ALL PREVIOUS RECORDS: ANNUAL BLOOD DONATION CAMP 550 Liters of Human Blood Donated UPES has been contributing to the state of Uttarakhand on several fronts directly and indirectly through various social initiatives for the past 12 years. The noblest of them all being giving away a part of themselves by volunteering to donate their blood. This activity is being conducting annually at UPES campus for the past decade. This year’s Annual Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized in association with Blood Bank of Indian Medical Association and Shri Mahant Indresh Hospital Trust over four days across the Kandoli & Bidholi campuses of UPES on 28th , 29th , 30th & 31st March 2016. The doctors and staff of the two medical agencies were overwhelmed at the initiative and motivation levels of the students and staff of UPES more so because the donations were carried out on full academic days. Highly self-motivated students and staff self-managed their packed schedules to volunteer for this noble cause. The camp hours had to be extended on all four days. Mr. Arun Dhand, Director – Media Affairs informed that a record breaking 1568 units of blood was collected by the two medical agencies on the four days which translates into nearly 470 Liters of human blood and if this donated blood was to be stored in 20 liter drums, it would require 27 such drums. Over these four days approximately 2000 volunteers registered themselves to donate blood, out of which 381 had to be deferred because of medical reasons. The Organizing and coordinating team of UPES at this year’s camp was led by Mr Anant Mishra, Senior Sports Officer and Mr Manish Madaan, Assistant Director Student Affairs under the guidance of Mr. Sanjiv Zutshi, Senior Director and Brig (Retd) Anil Sharma, Director-Students Affairs. This noble cause was whole heartedly supported by the Deans and the Head of Departments apart from the medical services team and the Administration team of UPES. Key Roles in motivating staff members was played out by Dr Nikhil Kulshrestha, Assistant Dean; Dr N B Soni and Dr Manish Prateek, Assistant Dean. Dr Shrihari, the Vice Chancellor of UPES expressed his gratitude and thanked one and all for keeping the UPES Flag Flying high at the conclusion of this four day long camp. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
