This document outlines the criteria and rubric for evaluating a printmaking assignment where students were asked to create a postage stamp design incorporating various required elements. The rubric evaluates students on completion of assignment requirements, composition and application of design principles, creative problem solving, application of materials and processes, and craftsmanship. Each category is scored on a 12-point scale, with the total score out of 51 points.

effortlessly through the prints? Are there obvious signs of knowledge and application of the Elements &
Principles in your prints?

Creative Problem Solving
Did you take the scope of the assignment and bring new and interesting thoughts and visual imagery to
it? Did you take the obvious path or the path less traveled? Does your print include areas of visual and
symbolic meaning in its design and execution? Does your composition and your finished prints
demonstrate skill and creativity in the construction and finishing technique/s chosen?

Was your print created using all of the planning, experimenting, creating, embellishing
and finishing techniques taught in class? Did you use the various techniques effectively demonstrating
the knowledge and application of what was taught? Did you make use of multiple carving and printing
