Design Ventura is a new design and enterprise project that aims to develop enterprise and creativity skills.
The project is run by the Design Museum and is generously supported by Deutsche Bank.
The Ventura Brief
Create a well designed product for the Design Museum Shop
The product needs to be creative and different from everyday museum gift shop products.
Ìý
Specification
Target audience Young people  - particularly student visitors aged 14-25.   You can decide whether to appeal to the whole age-range, or whether to select a group within this range.
Ìý
Manufacturing You must be able to make your product using materials and technology easily available - ideally from your school or local area.   You need to show how you could produce a batch of 6 editions/copies of your product.
Ìý
Sustainability You should consider the wider environmental and ethical implications of your idea.   Can you create a design and a business model that does minimizes waste?
Ìý
Costing and budget Your product should retail at around £10 per item.   You will need to think about manufacturing costs, packaging and marketing and the value of your own time.

Top Tip 1 You can never know too much about our design before you make it. Key Questions: How will you make it? Who will buy it? Where will it be sold? How will it be used?
Top Tip 2 Communicate your idea clearly and effectively. Use models, drawing and sketches as well as words to communicate. Think about how your idea will look How will it work? Why will people buy it?
Ventura Awards
Ventura Competition There are  two  Ventura competitions: - Ventura Workshop Competition - Virtual Ventura Competition
Prizes Everyone  that completes the project will receive a commemorative certificate. Best workshop team  will receive access to funding to make and sell their product Best Virtual Ventura teams  will receive trophies and the chance to exhibit in the Design Museum Shop.
Competition rules Participants must be from years 9, 10 or 11 Teams must be of 4-6 students Only one team per school can be considered for the competion prizes
Key dates Sept-Nov :  Ventura projects go live 22 Nov:  Deadline for competition entries (only one entry per school) 7 Dec:  Pitching day  (workshop schools only) Jan 2011:  Celebration Event  (winning schools and special guests only)
