The Vincentian Family consists of organizations inspired by St. Vincent de Paul. The Congregation of the Mission, also known as the Vincentian Fathers, was founded by St. Vincent de Paul in 1625 to evangelize the poor and form clergy. In 1617, St. Vincent founded the Confraternities of Charity, made up of lay people who helped the poor, and in 1633 he co-founded the Daughters of Charity with Louise de Marillac to serve the poorest of the poor. Catherine Labour辿 joined the Daughters of Charity in 1830 and had apparitions of the Virgin Mary, who told her to spread the Miraculous Medal.
