This document provides a database of survival plants categorized into medicinal herbs, culinary herbs, perennial vegetables, and utility plants. It describes the uses and benefits of plants like echinacea, stinging nettle, wheatgrass, watercress, moringa, red clover, and others. The goal is to educate on edible and medicinal plants that could be grown to meet needs in a survival situation when other resources are limited.

Introduction
When you think of plants you will need to
cover the variety of needs a family would
have in a survival type situation, quite a few
things come to mind. Theres a variety of
situations a family would face and a natural
resource of some kind is required to cover
those needs.
It is not enough to just think you can have
enough food stored away. It is always wiser
to have a on-going, continuously producing,
resource that you yourself control to take
care of your food needs.
It is not enough to just have a first aids kit
and assume that it will last long enough to
care for the needs of the family. There is no
exact estimate, expiration date, or time limit
to how long chaos and shortages may last in
a disaster situation. Therefore, learning to
forage or growing your own plants to use
medicinally and to even take care of wounds
and possible contamination is necessary.

This bookwill guide you and give you a
strong place to start on plants you should
consider for your survival needs: from
medicinal and culinary herbs, to perennial
vegetables, a high calorie garden, and utility
plants, like mosquito repellant.

Medicinal Herbs
In SHTF situations, modern medicines will
be very hard to come by in a very short time.
Growing your own backup plan is
necessary.
Here are some medicinal herbs to consider:
Echinacea aka Coneflower
Echinacea is most widely used for flu
symptoms, sorethroat, and immune
boosting.
Echinacea cuts the chances of catching a
common cold by 58 percent.
Echinacea reduces the duration of the
common cold by almost one-and-a-half
days.
But is also helps with:
acid indigestion

Wheatgrass
Many people swear by a shot of wheatgrass
juice per day. One ounce of wheatgrass
juice = two pounds of produce.
The blade itself does not digest well so
many chew it like a gum, swallowing the
juice and spitting out the blade, they may
blend it and then strain out the blades, or
get a wheatgrass juicer.
Wheatgrass contains 92 of the 115 minerals
known to man and over 100 elements that
man needs, including vitamins A, B-
complex, C, E, l and K! Its a wealth of

Culinary Herbs
When planting culinary or kitchen/cooking
herbs it is importantto try to plant herbs
you already use. Take a look in your kitchen
cabinets and see whatkind of herbs you
already use for flavor and seasoning.
Consider planting these first so that they
are already available to you, before the
need arises.
Not only will this allow for you to cut down
on futurespending on these select herbs,
but it will also have you already familiar
with your favoriteherbs and their growing
patterns, likes, and dislikes as a flavorful
bonus to your survivalgarden.
Here are some of the top culinary herbs to
consider:
Oregano
Lemon Grass
Cloves
Stevia

Perennial Vegetables
When it comes to money, people love
forms of passiveincome like royalties
whereyou can do the work once and have
the potential to get paid on your labor or a
lifetime and beyond, to futuregenerations.
But what if this was possiblewith your
garden? What if you could plant one time
and passively reap the fruits of you labor for
many years to come? Is there a such thing
as a passiveedible garden?
I am here to tell you that there is! Not only
is it possible, but in somecases, you can
also reap more and more fromyour harvest
as time goes on. If this is possibleand
creates less work for the gardener then why
isnt everyonedoing it. The truth is, many
people do not know aboutit, but the idea
of a perennial edible garden is slowly
increasing in popularity, even as a second
garden to complement the annual garden.

We all know that many trees and fruits are
perennial, but here are some perennial
vegetables to consider growing in your
garden.

Perennial Kale
Garlic
Artichokes
Rhubarb
Capers

High-Calorie Garden
When it comes to growing a garden for
survivalsituations, oneof the most
important things needed is fuel. In survival
type situations where a lot of physical
energy will be exerted and being able to eat
as little of your food supply as possibleto
satisfaction, matters a lot.
26. Survival Plant Database
By http://yourgradgear.com/ Page 26
You need every bit of your resources to go a
long way. So why not plan to give your body
maximum fuel with a high-caloriegarden?
Lets do some quick numbers. Theaverage
adult requires approximately 2,000 calories
per day. Now multiply that times a family of
4, you are quickly at 8,000 calories per day
to feed the family.
That adds up to be over 240,000 calories
per month to feed a family of 4 in a survival
situation. Get the picture yet? That would
be hard to do if you are only growing
tomatoes and lettuce. Make your planting
efforts go a long way, by choosing to plant a
few of these like:
Nuts
You may not havethe luxury of already
having mature nut trees (like pecan or

almond) planted in your yard. However,
there are faster-growing options. Consider
growing sunflowers for sunflower seeds.
Sunflower seeds offer 135 calories per 遜
cup. These are also high in protein and
contain healthy unsaturated fat.
Here is a list of high-calorie foods you can
grow and their calories per 村 pound (3.5
ounces):
Navy and Pinto Beans= 143 calories
Yams= 116 calories
Potatoes= 86 calories
Corn= 86 calories
Peas (Green)= 84 calories
Sweet Potatoes= 76 calories

Grapes (Concord)=67 calories

Utility Plants
When planting and planning for a survival
situation, it is important to not only grow
plants you can eat, but also grow plants you
can use for various other needs you may
have.
30. Survival Plant Database

Of course, all of these needs have multiple
solutions, but we will be focusing on
meeting the need with things you can grow
yourself or resources that are naturally
available in the wild.

These herbs can be dried, and crushed to
make powder, then wet your toothbrush
and dip into the herb. Not only do these

can bring indoors when the weather
become unsuitable. Use the lemon

Water Purification
Moringa Tree Seeds
Originating in Africa the fastgrowing
Moringa tree can grow 10-15 feetin 1 year.
So, in no time you will be able to use your
tree/s to better your health and for water
purification, as necessary.
Here is how you use Moringa for water
purification:
Depending on water clarity, 1 liter of water
would need approximately 50-150mg of
crushed Moringa seed.
1) Let the Moringa seeds dry on their
own on the tree, while still on the
tree.
2) Remove the husk fromaround the
seed, which leave the whitish kernel.
3) Use a stone or whatever you haveto
crush the whitish kernel into a
powder.
38. Survival Plant Database
By http://yourgradgear.com/ Page 38
4) Mix the power with justa little bit of
water in a cup.
5) Strain the mixture into a separate
cup.
6) Add the milky fluid to the water that
needs purifying.
7) Quickly stir for approximately 30
seconds, then continue to stir at a
regular pace for another 5 minutes.
8) Cover and let it sit for at least 1 hour.
9) Pour out your clean water.
