H i , I’m Jamie Patterson-Kaulmann
Perhaps you’ve looked for me on
If so, you probably know I live in the Stadt der Stühle (city of chairs)
Or perhaps that I come from Wichita, Kansas (the aviation capital of the world)
Having been born and raised in Wichita, it is probably not surprising I currently work for Cessna Aircraft Company where we believe ourselves to be one big happy family , crazy about airplanes. (that’s how I ended up in Germany, but we’ll get to that in a minute)
Maybe you also read: I studied at Wichita State University Or that I have international experience where I earned the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts – Cum Laude (3.4 / 4.0) Master of Arts – Spanish (4.0 / 4.0)
But, here is what isn’t telling you.
I started working while I was still in High School 1993-2002 We had a family business ; it was a fastener distributor . My father believed in “working your way up” so I started in the warehouse packaging parts. It was here I learned the nuts and bolts of business . I also held the following jobs within the company: Secretary Special Project Assistant Sales Assistant Executive Administrative Assistant to the CEO & President Web Development and Information Systems Administrator Information Systems Manager & Internal Parts Sales
The year after graduating from University I moved to Kansas City 2002-2005 I tried my hand at several new experiences. Interpersonal Communications: teaching, public speaking and planning. Spanish Lecturer at local community college Long-term substitute at the Kansas City Public Schools Montessori Teacher Logistics: intermodal / rail freight. Pricing Analyst at Hub Group
I then decided I wanted to live in Europe and spent almost one year in Gent, Belgium It was the death of a parent that called me back to Wichita, but I knew I wanted to go back to Europe one day… 2006 While I was there, I studied Dutch
Wanting to get back into the work force and move forward with my life; I started to look for a grounded, traditional, yet global reaching company I could be proud to represent. In February, I started at Cessna on the sales desk a domestic, direct facing customer service position. After 10 months I was promoted to Coordinator, International Service Center Integration . 2007
The promotion took me to Paris 2008 Liaison: 10 European Authorized Facilities Increased Parts: 3.300 to approx 8.000 Systems Training & Interface Testing Changed Procedures & Implemented KPIs Installed dense pack shelves & scanners The next set of objectives took me to Amsterdam 2009 Established / Supported EMEA Forward Stocking Customs Software & Logistics Provider RFIs Assisted: Establishment of Cessna Subsidiary Dutch Chamber of Commerce Registration Built Training Program for local team
Along the way, I met my husband. We have settled in Weil am Rhein 2010 So, what do I do now? I still work for Cessna building bridges …
In my current role, I help mitigate cultural and language barriers… by supporting Paris & Amsterdam, liaising between our 17 European Facilities & our company headquarters, and managing a sales territory.
Things on my bucket list. I love … Travel to new places Learning Languages Change the world Taking Pictures My family Dancing Explore Asia Make the Camino de Santiago de Compostela Pilgrimage Seeing a good film See the northern lights with my bare eyes A nice wine French baguette Run a half marathon Give back / pay it forward Set foot on every continent Watch polar bears in Alaska Finish my pilot‘s license Visit all 50 states Write the great American novel
