Vladislav Horodetskiy was a prominent Kiev architect born in 1863 in Ukraine. After finishing school in St. Petersburg in 1890, he moved to Kiev where he lived for almost 30 years designing buildings in the Art Nouveau style. Some of his most notable buildings in Kiev include the House with Chimaeras, St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Cathedral, and the Karaite Kenesa. In the 1920s, he emigrated to Warsaw and later Tehran, where he lived until his death. One of the streets in Kiev is now named after him to honor his architectural contributions.
