2. Volleyball was invented in 1895 by a YMCA athletic director,
William Morgan.
His goal was to create an indoor sport and it incorporates,
tennis, handball and basketball.
Two types of volleyball, team and beach volleyball.
Both are Olympic sports and have competitive leagues.

5. The mission of the PVL is to create a
successful and sustainable indoor
professional volleyball league for elite-level
post-colligate male and female athletes in
the United States.
PVL MISSION
6. 1. Create a regional indoor pro volleyball league in the US with adult
all-star teams fielded USAV regions.
2. Field a minimum of 10 mens and 20 womens professional teams.
3. Sanction regional events, conference events, and PVL National
Championship event each year.
4. Partner with reputable sponsors and partners to assist with
promoting professional volleyball and providing financial support for
the PVL
5. Develop role models for youth and junior volleyball athletes across
the US.
6. Take professional volleyball to the fans by hosting PVL events at
large USAV sanctioned across the US.
PVL GOALS
7. The vision of the PVL is to have 10 professional mens teams and
20 professional womens teams across North America competing in
regional and conference play during the season, with a culminating
PVL Championships for each gender taking place annually. The
regional events will take place at participating USAV Jr. National
Qualifiers or at a PVL hosted event in a respective USAV region.
Once the league reaches critical mass, the PVL Conference
Championships will take place on a rotating basis in each respective
conference (Western, Central, Eastern) in early/mid May of each
year with the PVL Championships taking place at either the US
Open or the respective USAV Jr. National Championships.

13. The Premier Volleyball League has signed a three-year
agreement with the volleyball apparel company, Rox
Volleyball, Inc. which makes Rox the Official apparel
provider for the PVL.
When this article was written in 2013, the PVL was only in
their second season so the success of getting a deal with Rox
was huge for the league.
They wanted their leagues to be taken seriously and grow
professional Volleyball in the US and provide role models for
players that are looking to play professionally after college.
