Vu-Lan or Wandering Souls' Day is a Vietnamese holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, which falls in late October. On this day, the souls of the dead are believed to return to their families' homes. People make offerings of food, money, and clothes to appease these wandering souls and ensure they find rest. Ghosts are thought to be the souls of those who died unnatural or violent deaths, and mediums sometimes claim to communicate with ghosts to gain insight into people's lives. Rituals like burning incense and prayers are performed to ward off unwanted ghosts.

- 2. What is wondering souls day ??? On this day, the wandering souls that havent been sent to heaven are released. Hells gate is opened at sunset. The souls that are still in hell, are saved by peoples prayers. The naked hungry souls 鍖y out, returning to the family altars. Thursday, October 25, 12
- 3. Ma- Ghosts Ghost were thought to be wandering souls. A few words to say ghost in Vietnamese - bong ma, hon ma, oan hon, bon ma. General beliefs of how do ghosts become a ghost- those who have undergone a natural, painful or violent death. Souls in Vietnam need paper money, food and clothing. The souls that dont receive the proper burial become Ma doi (hungry ghost). Thursday, October 25, 12
- 4. Ghosts are used to help mediums? :o Ghosts are used as aids to fortune tellers and spirit mediums. They help gain understanding about peoples lives. - 5. Rituals with con ma most common rituals/practises for dealing with ghosts is to burn incense and offer prayers. This is done for the various unknown ghosts who have been seen or are thought to be buried in the area. Although this is one of the most common rituals for dealing with ghost, it is not always effective.
