5. Why October? Why Walk? October was picked because it is an ideal time for walking. The fall colors are spectacular and the days are cooler. 8. Basics of Walk to the Top The children counted every 15 minutes that they walk. For each 15 minutes the children put a pair of boot prints on the mountain poster with their name.
