There are over 80,000 refugees across 53 camps in Myanmar and China along the border due to conflict. The goal is to provide refugees with ceramic water filters for clean drinking water to protect health and prevent disease. So far filters have been provided to 17,379 refugees across 9 camps, but more are still needed as 67.5% still lack access to clean water. Donations are being requested to fund additional filters, rice, medicine, and education for refugees.

Overall situation of
refugee camps
There are now more than 80,000 refugees along
the Myanmar/China border.
In Myanmar there are 53 refugee camps with a
total of 53,379 refugees.
There are another 9 refugee camps with 7097
refugees in Yunnan province, in the Baoshan
& Dehong districts.

Our Goal:
Provide refugees with ceramic water filters so they
can have clean and safe drinking water to protect
their health and prevent the spread of diseases.

42 refugee camps leaders received training including:
Healthy Drinking Water, Sanitation Improvement and
Disease Prevention, QQR Prevention Principles, and
Water Filter Installation and Maintain.

Muguaba refugee camp in Myanmar

• There are 1,245 refugees living in the Muguba
refugee camp. Their drinking water comes
from three 10 meter deep wells.
• This camp was built in November 2011. Three
children under 5 years of age have died due to
diarrhea. Marip Seng Dui Mai ， female ， 2
years 3 months old; Labang La
Grawng ， male, 3 years old; Damau Gum
Ring, male ， 3 years old.

This well is 10 meters deep, but is very easily
polluted and their bottles are very dirty.

Refugees need at least 4 hours to carry wood from
the forest to the camp. Even if they understand
the dangers of drinking unboiled water, they still
do because of the cost to getting wood.

had diarrhea so

soiling her trousers
two times a day.

The doctors requested Xiang Nan Ra take
medicine and drink clean water from the water
filter. That day 17 other refugees were also
treated for diarrhea at the camp clinic.

Like this lady, many refugees are getting sick because
of the hot weather and not drinking enough clean
water...

Bio-sand water filters provide an inexpensive way to purify water and prevent disease. Made of concrete and layered sand and gravel, they filter out impurities and can serve a family for years for just $50. Larger systems can be set up to support micro-businesses. 3. In addition to filters, rain collection tanks and wells were constructed through this project to provide sustainable sources of clean water to communities, improving lives and public health. Ndu subdivision in Cameroon suffers from acute water scarcity due to population growth, irregular rainfall from climate change, and degradation of watersheds from natural causes and human activities. Bongnjo Foundation organized a tree planting project to regenerate and protect water catchment areas in response. Over 250 local youth participated in planting 800 seedlings of Prunus africana and wild plums around five catchment areas. The community requested expanding the project to more areas and pledged greater involvement, as the initiative built trust with residents and provided experience in community mobilization for the foundation.

There are few stresses to which the body is exposed that even nearly approach the extreme stresses of heavy exercise. In fact, if some of the extremes of exercise were continued for even moderately prolonged periods, they might be lethal. Therefore, in the main, sports physiology is a discussion of the ultimate limits to which several of the bodily mechanisms can be stressed. To give one simple example: In a person who has extremely high fever approaching the level of lethality, the body metabolism increases to about 100 per cent above normal. By comparison, the metabolism of the body during a marathon race may increase to 2000 per cent above normal. Female and Male Athletes Most of the quantitative data that are given for the young male athlete, not because it is desirable to know only these values but because it is only in male athletes that relatively complete measurements have been made. However, for those measurements that have been made in the female athlete, almost identical basic physiologic principles apply, except for quantitative differences caused by differences in body size, body composition, and the presence or absence of the male sex hormone testosterone. In general, most quantitative values for women—such as muscle strength, pulmonary ventilation, and cardiac output, all of which are related mainly to the muscle mass—vary between two thirds and three quarters of the values recorded in men. When measured in terms of strength per square centimetre of cross-sectional area, the female muscle can achieve almost exactly the same maximal force of contraction as that of the male-between 3 and 4 kg/cm2. Therefore, most of the difference in total muscle performance lies in the extra percentage of the male body that is muscle, caused by endocrine differences that we discuss later. The performance capabilities of the female versus the male athlete are illustrated by the relative running speeds for a marathon race. In a recent comparison, the top female performer had a running speed that was 11 per cent less than that of the top male performer. FInvited lecture delivered vy Dr Sujoy Dasgupta on "Role of Antioxidants in Male Infertility" the East Zone VPCON, a national conference organized by the Bengal Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (BOGS) on 18 April, 2025. This session was supported by Akumentis. Male infertility is NOT a single disease. Therefore, the investigations and treatment are not straightforward. We need to do investigations which can change the treatment plan. At the same time, we should remember that, with passage of time, the sperm parameters decline. Therefore, rational treatment should be done. In most cases, ICSI is needed so that the affected man can become biological father, without need of donor sperms. "Antioxidants" are specialised type of medicines which are basically supplements. These medicines can sometimes correct the damages to the cells occuring in our body. Antioxidants may be helpful in mild male infertility. However, in severe male infertility or Azoospermia, we can NOT rely on antioxidants only. We need thorough evaluation and timely management.

Two years ago we launched the Healthy Ageing and Prevention Index. The Index is an online interactive tool that ranks 153 countries on six healthy ageing metrics to understand how well countries have adapted to longevity. In our Index we look at health, wealth and societal metrics, including life span, health span, work span, income, environmental performance and happiness We now have data for years 2019 and 2022 which allows us to track progress over time. These are the top 50 countries on our Index in 2022. Iceland replaced Switzerland as the top ranked country in 2022. In the top 20 ranked countries the average movement up or down the Index between 2019 and 2022 was 2.1 places compared with 4.9 places in the bottom 20 ranked countries. On average, countries moved 4.6 places. More than a third of the top 20 countries are members of the EU. Between 2019 and 2022 we have become unhealthier, more unequal and less environmentally sustainable Inequalities in life span and health span have also widened since 2019, with the gap between the top 10 and bottom 10 countries on our Index increasing by 1 more year (with the gap in life span now 27 years and the gap in health span now 24 years). While happiness levels have remained relatively unchanged and we work the same number of years and we’re also richer, income inequalities have widened by 6.5% between the top and bottom 25% of countries. In fact, this widening of inequalities is due to the top 25% of countries seeing an increase in per capita income, while the bottom 25% seeing a decrease in per capita income. Countries with a higher vaccine rate not only have a greater life span but they also perform better on the Index. The top 5 countries (Mexico, UK, South Korea, Denmark and Portugal) have an average flu vaccination rate of 82%, an average life span of 81 years and an average ranking of 25 on our Index The bottom 5 countries (Latvia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland and Slovakia) have an average flu vaccination rate of 10%, an average life span of 76 years and an average ranking of 51 on our Index.

2. Overall situation of refugee camps There are now more than 80,000 refugees along the Myanmar/China border. In Myanmar there are 53 refugee camps with a total of 53,379 refugees. There are another 9 refugee camps with 7097 refugees in Yunnan province, in the Baoshan & Dehong districts.

4. Our Goal: Provide refugees with ceramic water filters so they can have clean and safe drinking water to protect their health and prevent the spread of diseases.

5. 42 refugee camps leaders received training including: Healthy Drinking Water, Sanitation Improvement and Disease Prevention, QQR Prevention Principles, and Water Filter Installation and Maintain.

9. Water filters located in public places are more convenience for refugees than going to get clean drinking water from a distant source – leading to more people drinking safe & clean water.

10. Locally its now very hot. It’s very convenient to have clean water in their living rooms.

11. Muguaba refugee camp in Myanmar • There are 1,245 refugees living in the Muguba refugee camp. Their drinking water comes from three 10 meter deep wells. • This camp was built in November 2011. Three children under 5 years of age have died due to diarrhea. Marip Seng Dui Mai ， female ， 2 years 3 months old; Labang La Grawng ， male, 3 years old; Damau Gum Ring, male ， 3 years old.

12. This well is 10 meters deep, but is very easily polluted and their bottles are very dirty.

13. Refugees need at least 4 hours to carry wood from the forest to the camp. Even if they understand the dangers of drinking unboiled water, they still do because of the cost to getting wood.

14. Xiang Nan Ra is 9 years old. She was vomiting and had severe diarrhea. Her family used to drink untreated water at home. Her mom said Xiang Nan Ra had diarrhea so severe she was soiling her trousers two times a day.

15. The doctors requested Xiang Nan Ra take medicine and drink clean water from the water filter. That day 17 other refugees were also treated for diarrhea at the camp clinic.

21. Materials Provided to Date • Ceramic water filters: 1,513 • Drinking Cups: 8,600 • Pails: 1,050 • Basins: 1,050 • These have been distributed at 9 refugee camps, helping 17,379 refugees have safe drinking water.

23. Other Needs Include: • Rice: Refugees need 200,000 RMB per day worth of rice • Medicine: for diarrhea, colds, and mosquito bites. • Education: 1000+ boarding students need scholarship support.
