The Waverley Christian College Canstruction team built an Olympic torch sculpture out of cans for a charity competition. Their initial idea was a man holding a torch but they simplified it to just a torch. Joseph designed the torch in SketchUp. They faced challenges like parts falling off but completed the sculpture. They hope to help people in need by donating the cans after the competition.
This document summarizes Kaushal Joshi's portfolio of work from his Basic Design course in 2009. It includes summaries of various exercises involving woodworking, model making, sketching, and more. The exercises helped develop his visual perception, creative thinking, and artistic skills. He learned the importance of respecting craftspeople and gained an appreciation for how basic design concepts and exercises can teach fundamental skills.
The document discusses an organization called Design Circle that aims to bring together students from different design fields and organize events to accomplish their mission of representing design students professionally. It then provides information on course expectations for first year students, including classes on color theory, interior space design, visual communication design, and industrial design, before concluding by encouraging students to work hard, not procrastinate, be organized and creative, take risks, and have fun in preparing for the entrance exam.
Leonardo da Vinci's sketching process and techniques provide valuable lessons for designers today. He would sketch prolifically by hand on separate sheets of paper, doing initial sketches alone before reviewing them with others later. His sketches included annotations, arrows and labels for clarity. Da Vinci stored his sketches and would revisit them later, demonstrating the value of saving early ideas. His prolific sketching led to masterpieces and innovations by striving for quantity, deferring judgment, seeking new combinations and using imagination during ideation. When refining ideas, Da Vinci's approach was to use positive judgment first, consider novelty, stay focused, and be able to redirect himself if needed.
This document provides biographical and portfolio information for Jonathan Sebastian Pinotti, a product designer. It includes a biography, descriptions of his skills, honors and achievements, and contact information. It also summarizes several of his product design projects including Lighthouse, a pitcher and glass set with a built-in night light; Royale, a premium lighter protected by a dome shield; and sketches and concepts for other products. The document presents Pinotti as a creative and ambitious designer focused on bringing his ideas to life through materializing products.
The team worked together to build an archery target out of cans for the Canstruction project. They had to plan their design, calculate materials needed, and collaborate over two days to complete the build. The group enjoyed the process of working as a team, though stacking the cans in the proper design was challenging. In the end, they were pleased with their completed archery target and felt the project improved their teamwork skills.

Blockchain currencies like Bitcoin present both opportunities and risks for users. While over 200,000 retailers now accept Bitcoin, issues with loss of confidence in currency exchanges remain. A proposed solution is a decentralized currency exchange that allows for direct, trustless transactions between parties using blockchain technology to securely confirm exchanges without the possibility of fraud. This new exchange called MetaLair aims to be the first to enable direct and trustless exchange of different cryptocurrencies based on years of research by experts in security and financial systems.
The document provides examples of different literary devices including metaphor, simile, hyperbole, rhyme scheme, and alliteration. Specifically, it includes:
1) Two examples of metaphor and two examples of simile.
2) Examples using hyperbole to exaggerate fame and wealth.
3) A rhyming poem about a childhood love.
4) Six sentences demonstrating alliteration through repeated initial consonant sounds.
Business Models and Innovation- Dr Jonathan Sapsedwired_sussex
油
The document summarizes key points about business models and innovation in the Brighton cluster, which is predominantly a service economy. It finds that competitive advantage comes from technological and artistic/creative expertise. Innovation occurs through solving client problems, exploration that allows staff time to explore, and networking communities. Hindrances to businesses are the economic climate and competition, not access to financing or IP infringement. While over half of firms produce copyrighted materials, IP revenues are low at under 5%. The next steps outlined are to complete analysis, integrate results into a model for learning and improvement, and provide short courses and activities to raise the cluster's profile through links elsewhere.

The team designed a floating Olympic village sculpture for a CANstruction competition with the theme of Olympic Engineering. They contacted the engineering company that originally designed the floating village concept and received permission to use the design. The team then altered the proportions of the original design in Photoshop to fit the required 3m x 3m space. They calculated the number and types of cans needed and carefully constructed the sculpture over multiple stages, taking photos along the way. In the end, they were pleased with the final product and that many cans would be donated to charity.

This document summarizes the key findings from research on Brighton's Creative, Digital, and IT (CDIT) sector. The research found that the CDIT sector is worth over 贈713 million annually and has grown significantly faster than both the local and national economies in recent years. It identified over 1,400 CDIT businesses in Brighton, with the most successful being "superfused" businesses that tightly integrate creative content and technology. The research concludes that Brighton has a significant CDIT cluster driven by its talent economy but risks not fully capturing the value of local innovation due to issues like poor broadband infrastructure.

Speaker: Aalok Sonawala
The SWWE Regional Network were very pleased to welcome Aalok Sonawala, Head of PMO, National Programmes, Rider Levett Bucknall on 26 February, to BAWA for our first face to face event of 2025. Aalok is a member of APMs Thames Valley Regional Network and also speaks to members of APMs PMO Interest Network, which aims to facilitate collaboration and learning, offer unbiased advice and guidance.
Tonight, Aalok planned to discuss the importance of a PMO within project-based organisations, the different types of PMO and their key elements, PMO governance and centres of excellence.
PMOs within an organisation can be centralised, hub and spoke with a central PMO with satellite PMOs globally, or embedded within projects. The appropriate structure will be determined by the specific business needs of the organisation. The PMO sits above PM delivery and the supply chain delivery teams.

7. Canstruction 2012
Emanuel
Soetjahjono
The reason I came to Canstruction was really just
to make a sculpture out of cans our group decided
to join before we knew the topic, we
brainstormed a man with a can. Then after we
knew the theme was Olympics it changed to a
guy holding the Olympic torch and then just a
hand and torch.
8. Joseph Wong
When I first joined Canstruction I was excited to join and
wanted to share my skills of designing. First we wanted to do
a man holding a can. But when we were told that the theme
was the Olympics, we as a team decided to build an Olympic
Torch. We thought that the London 2012 Olympic Torch was
too hard because it had holes it. So we decided to do a torch
with a hand holding a torch. I designed the Google Sketch
Up model of a torch without the hand. We slightly changed
the model because it was too big and too tall.
My name is Obed Wallis and I am part of the
Canstruction team. I joined because I wanted to
Obed Wallis learn more about engineering, physics and most of
all, I wanted to do the Canamation (stop motion).
We needed to learn about engineering to find out if
our idea would work. I felt I needed to learn more
about it as I do not know that much at the moment.
Physics is so we would know if it would fall over
and how fast the can would fall. I love cameras,
using stop motion and taking interesting
photographs. Taking photos brings out a creative
side of me that I need to work on so I decided to
join the Canstruction team along with my friends,
Calvin, Jasheel, Joseph and Emanuel. We at first
wanted to make a man with a can but when we
found out it had to be Olympic theme we decided to
make a hand holding the Olympic Torch. And can
we win the Canstructioncompetion... Yes We Can.
I decided to join the Canstruction group because we had already
discussed that we wanted to make a sculpture. I felt like doing it
because it sounded interesting, building a tall structure with full Jasheel Reddy
cans. Our first original idea was a man holding a can but that
wouldn't work structurally and the theme was the Olympics. So
we modified the structure to be a hand holding the Olympic
torch. I also wanted to donate something to the Salvation Army
or help people who need food or rely on the Salvation Army.
Since we were the first people in WCC to do it and our idea
seemed achievable we all felt like we wanted to do it. I drew the
dimensions of our planned structure. We do get to go to the city
and maybe even win the competition. My friends were doing it to
so I wanted to be part of it. I think that if we win or even if we
lose we will change the lives of many people and help them.
9. Calvin Hendoro
I wanted to do Canstruction because I liked he
idea of being creative and having fun, and all at
the same time helping other people. When I first
heard about Canstruction, I thought, I may give
that a go. and I havent regretted it ever since.
Its been fun brainstorming ideas and figuring
out what works, but after all, its for a good
cause.
Lance Nhim
I joined Canstruction because I felt the need to help
people. I raised money from my live group and
helped build the Canstruction. I joined Canstruction
two weeks before the build-off after I raised some
money. Some troubles were that half our flame fell
off, some cans were crushed and that the flame was
unstable. We raised money at our athletics day.
The Charity: Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is a Christian Church known for its thrift stores and
charity work. From there beginnings in London in the 19th century
theyve been helping the needy. We are donating to The Salvation Army
10. because they are the ones holding the competition. The Salvation Army
has been helping people for a long time. After we are finished with the
competition all of the cans that we bought are going to needy people. The
Salvation Army gets people to donate cans in a constructive way.

Rough Colours for Our Structure
16. Canimation
By Obed Wallis
To make the Canimation I had to stand on the side lines with a camera
taking photos of every few cans being added to the structure. While
making the torch and hands we took a picture every five cans, for the
bottom of the flame we took a photo every three cans and for the other
part of the flame we took a photo every single can. After all of that I had
to take it home and put them in iMovie on a MAC computer. Once I got
that sorted I had to put in music and at school my group and I decided to
put in Chariots of Fire as it went with the Olympic theme. I cut it to the
right point and bought it to school to give to our supervisor Mrs Chen.
