- 2. Read chapter 19 Today we are going to be writing a newspaper article. Use the next slides to remind yourselves of the features of a newspaper article.
- 10. Key facts to remember What tense are they written in? Newspapers are always written in past tense as they are covering events that have already happened. Why are the 5w's important in a newspaper article? Who, What, Where, When and Why They are important as they allow us to expand on our ideas and inform the reader.

TASK: Write a newspaper article about the events so far in the story of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ Imagine you are a reporter who has just spoken to Dorothy and her group of friends after they left their final meeting with Oz. How is each character going to be feeling? You can summarise their story so far, you can have interviews with each character (including Oz). You can re-cap the events in detail, you can mention what they might do next. Remember your task for today is to complete your own newspaper article.

How did the group make it to Emerald City? What happened once they completed the tasks for Oz? These are questions to answer for your article, answering these will help you when writing our article. Also think about: Quotes from eye witnesses or members of the group. Conclusion- What happens next? Will Dorothy ever make it back to Kansas?
