The 2012 Summer Olympics Torch Relay will take place from May 19 to July 27, 2012 prior to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The 70-day relay will involve over 8,000 people carrying the torch for around 300 meters each across the UK, including visits to six islands, with 66 evening celebrations. It will start from Land's End in Cornwall.
