Image courtesy of Getaway Magazine Best we start searching for a prime location for Cape Town’s very own Hollywood Walk of Fame – especially since this August, our cinematic Mother City is filled to the brim with Tinseltown’s finest actors! Our starstudded guest list reads like an Oscar nominee roll call – Claire Danes, Javier Bardem, Charlize Theron, Sean Penn, Penelope Cruz, Colin Firth, Sascha Baron Cohen and Rebel Wilson have all been spotted out and about on our glittering streets, between filming their latest projects. While Danes completes filming on the latest season on her hit TV thriller, Homeland, and Penn, Cruz, Bardem and Theron wrap up their dramatic collaboration, The Last Face; comedians Cohen and Wilson are shooting scenes for their World Cup themed movie, Grimsby. The dashing Firth is in town for the feature film “Eye in the Sky”, alongside hit series Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen. In typical laidback Capetonian fashion, our locals barely bat an eyelash when casually running into these celluloid artists (except me – I’m a HUGE celeb stalker!) and this is exactly what makes the Mother City a desirable celebrity destination. Visiting stars can relax and enjoy our sunny shores, amazing bars and vibrant markets without being mobbed by overzealous fans.
