The document provides instructions for volunteers indexing genealogical records. It explains that volunteers should type only the information directly from the source and not add outside knowledge. Differences between two volunteers indexing the same record will be arbitrated by a third party to determine the correct information. Volunteers can review arbitration results to see examples of mistakes and improve their own indexing accuracy.
2. General Rules
Pray for an open heart and good eyesight.
Type what you see.
Dont add information you know is true, even if it is!
Example: The place is listed as Fredericksburg, Virginia, there is a space for the county. You know
Fredericksburg , VA, is in Spotsylvania County. Unless the county is listed on the page you are indexing,
dont add it.
READ THE PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS!
Dont stress, dont worry, relax and have fun.
