This document summarizes a presentation about the COVID Tracker Ireland mobile app. It describes the origins and development of the app, including over 500 meetings with extended teams of over 100 people to design a Bluetooth-based contact tracing system. The app launched in July 2020 and has been downloaded over 1.3 million times, recording around 30,000 close contacts and 60 million check-ins. It has undergone 10+ releases and code has been reused in 10+ other projects. The app is now interoperable with systems in Northern Ireland and the EU. The presentation discusses challenges around centralization vs decentralization and transparency, and notes future steps include expanding global impact.
