GRAMMAR FOCUS
There is / There are / a / an / some / any We use  “There is”  with singular things or places. Example:   There is   a  red house. There is   an  orange chair in the garden. There is   a  blue car in the garage. We use  “a”  with a singular thing that starts with a consonant. With nouns that start with a vowel we use  “an” . Example:   a  house  an elevator a kitchen  an oven a tree  an orange door
There is / There are / a / an / some / any We use  “There are”  with plural things or places. Example:   There are   two  red house s . There are   three  dressers in the house. We use  “some”  instead of using the amount of things that we are identifying. Example:   There are   some  red house s . There are   some  dressers in the house.
There is / There are / a / an / some / any We use  “any”  with negative statements. Example:   There aren´t  any  houses in this place. There isn´t  any   bed in the bedroom. We use  “any”  in questions too. Example:   Is there  any  garage in the house? Yes, there  is.  / No, there  isn't . Are there   any  restaurants nearby? Yes, there  are.  / No, there  aren't
