This document provides instructions for a classroom game to help children learn fractions. The game involves dividing students into two teams who take turns coloring portions of shapes divided into quarters or thirds and writing the corresponding fraction. If a student correctly writes the fraction for the portion colored in, their team gets a point. The game is designed for early primary school but can be adapted for older students.

1. This is a fun resource to encourage children to link pictorial fractions with their written form. On each
slide is a shape divided into either quarters or thirds. The class should be divided into two teams. A
child from Team A comes up to the whiteboard and colours in as much of the shape as they like. A
child from Team B then has to write the appropriate fraction for that shape, e.g. 2/3, 1/4.
If the child gets it right, they get the point. If they get it wrong, play changes to the other team.
It is appropriate for KS1 / lower KS2, but could be adapted for older children.
