This document discusses the convergence of storage and data networks. Originally, there were separate storage networks and data networks managed by different IT organizations. However, there is now an evolution towards convergence, bringing benefits like reduced costs from consolidating onto a single Ethernet network. Adoption of converged networks is increasing, with over half of respondents in a 2012 survey either currently using or planning converged platforms. Drivers of convergence include new data centers and virtualization deployments, while challenges include costs of 10G switches and the reliability of Fibre Channel networks. The presentation provides an overview of these topics and trends in converged network adoption.
